Glorious Alpha Two Testers!

Alpha Two Realms are now unlocked for Phase II testing!

For our initial launch, testing will begin on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 10 AM Pacific and continue uninterrupted until Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10 AM Pacific. After January 6th, we’ll transition to a schedule of five-day-per-week access for the remainder of Phase II.

Buildings in Players' Freeholds

I was watching the 2nd node video on the AoC youtube channel, and there was a part where Steven said that players will be able to have inns or taverns in their freehold. I'm wondering exactly how in-depth would this be? For example, would you just put down a pre-generated tavern with some preset npcs who work for you that will give you some money every certain amount of time or will it be something more interactive? Like would I be able to personalize the building itself and the NPCs? Would other players and NPCs be able to come to tavern and order drinks and whatnot? Would there be some system involved with getting materials for food/drinks? Would I be able to actually make the food/drinks myself if I wanted to? Or, in the case of an inn, would players be able to rent rooms?

Idk, for some reason I've always wanted to own a tavern that players and npcs can come to and enjoy! It'd be awesome if that's how it would work :D
That being said I could understand why they wouldn't want to go too in-depth with it (development time as well as being a burden on the player) but still... *shrug* I think it would be fun :D

  • Don't quote me but It sounds like you should be able to lay down furniture and decorations. There will also be skins for sale to customize the building itself.

    I'm not sure how deep it will get with npcs but you should be able to have one selling your drinks and food.

    Not sure about NPCs but players will be able to come to your tavern to drink, eat, etc.

    You might have to make the food and drinks yourself.

    It sounds like players should be able to rent rooms from you if you have an inn. i believe steven talked about players get a bonus in the area around the inn if they rented a room there.

    I might be wrong but it sounds like this is what they are going for. There has been several other topics on this forum with people who share your dream of running a tavern/inn.
  • I sure hope that at these taverns and inns that people can sit in chairs and lie down in beds. Nothing is so pitiful as having all this wonderful furniture that you cannot use.
  • I would like a tavern to start with basic food and drink. The owner should be able to conduct quests or find ingredients to add new food and drinks to the menu. If the gameplay goes with finding ingredients, a certain number of ingredients should set up a supply chain for the permanent addition of the food or drink. You could even bring in requirements for player alchemists and chefs to get involved in the process.
  • Speculation, of course, but with last stream them discussing how buildings will be added to nodes when the nodes advance, I'm thinking it might work similar. You say you want a tavern, there are styles for you to choose from, probably some furniture customization, and then you gather up the resources to have it built. I think it would only make sense for other players to then be able to come and buy things from you, but I'm thinking you would need to keep it stocked yourself, either with your own cooking or through purchasing from others somehow.
