AoC could be a fertile ground for Bots

It's fact that AoC will be a subscription based game, which can be beneficial in keeping the game not P2W, but what about bots? I know many subscription based MMOs that are infested with bots. So, what is IS doing about bots?

Isn't it too early for this question?

Priority one before doing anything else was getting bot code in place.
Does that answer your question on their focus ?

People are paying $2,500.00 for an alpha key. They're not paying that kinda money cause they just didn't want to join kickstarter ;)

Let me put it this way, most bots follow a certain grit when it comes to farming lets say iron. So because of the way that minerals in ashes will work , that tiype of bot wont be able to work. I wouldnt worry to much about atm.

I am sorry, who is paying that much money? Who in the world would spend that much money on a maybe project? Who? Just WHO?! I am baffled!

Who? Who in the world would pay that much money for an alpha key on this maybe project? Just WHO? Seriously, that amount of money is huge, and spending it just to get an alpha key doesn't make sense economically. There is just no benefit.

    @Seth1996 I almost did. lol
    (pay that much and more)

Edit: I came back to the world of adults, though, and was reminded about bills and what not, by the fist of responsibility. T^T

Here comes the stupid seth again, everyday a new topic with stupid questions, acting so high and mighty, are you in a rebellious stage of life? Go on with your life and ignore this game then, there are people who pay 5.000$ and even more for this game, doesn't make sense economically? Lol there are people who spend over 30k$ on WoW items... lol
There are people who spend millions of dollars in a car they barely touch, and that's how life goes, if you generate enough money to always have some left, you can do whatever you want with it.
Talking about bots when the game hasn't even begin it's alpha test phase, we won't see any bots attempt until the full game release most likely, and still, all you need is a unique trading/selling system ingame to make bot websites not interested in this game.
But what with this stupid title? "AoC could be a fertile ground for Bots" rofl, are bots plants or something? Are you mad you didn't get a key yet or something?

Here comes again, the lord of wisdom that always make a stupid topic based on speculations of what "could" or "may" be of the game. It seems you have a lot of free time, why don't you go study a bit more? It's never bad to keep learning in life, maybe you could learn how to stop making stupid pointless topics and enjoy your life without bothering on forums ^^.

@Atsukai Wow, that seems unnecessary. :/

    @ Seth1996

Well we don' know exactly. They have told us in the twitch streams and elsewhere that they front loaded security coding and hinted that they are working with another firm to help with that as well. They have said a few times that there will be focus on these types of problems, including being able to look at individual activity by accounts and characters. I imagine that they will do everything that they can or can be done within reason. Just like most other MMOs that care about such things past lip service.

Do you have suggestions for them?

Hey did you guys know that AoC could be The Game That Finally Got More Right Than Wrong For It's Genre?
  • Options
They've stated in streams that they are working hard on having strong security in place for AoC.

Pretty harsh, but I have to agree. These questions are pretty mind-numbing, pointless, taken out of context, speculation, no research, assumptions.

Nice point, but pretty harsh. These questions/ideas are mind-numbing, speculating, absurd assumptions.
Anyways...I know that forums are meant for conversation, but lets try to keep it meaningful. If you haven't watched all the content they have release then I know you can jump to conclusions, but come on...your ideas you keep posting are a bit far-fetched.
This phrase should carry a lot of weight PREALPHA.

AoC are having multiple walls in case that bots actually attempt to invade our community. The walls are kept secret as they do not wish to give the enemy their defense planning. anyways, some of the walls are revealed as they are the more obvious ones, like active GMs, P2P, and a general community hate for p2w, and by extension gold sellers.(which would mean we will actively hunt down bots if we find them.
Again, as pointed out, bots are also loading their guns, buying alpha keys so on so forth, so it's definitely going to be a long and drawn out battle.
only time will tell who will win.

@seth1996; have you been tracking the KS? There are a couple of people who invested at the $10,000 level. Lots of goodies with that level, not least of which is getting in on Alpha1. So yes, people will spend money where they choose, and what seems ludicrous to us may seem perfectly logical to them, within their means.

Lets try to remember bots are not simple macros , The same group that uses them ( P2W ) usually use other tech like radar. Now if radar can find another player it can also find an iron vein ( or thunderstruck tree in AA ) . Now the subscription model defiantly limits the number of bots and increases the risk. They will be there that was certain as soon as they said they would allow multi-boxing. Which i guess brings up the question how do you tell a multi-box from a bot.. really you dont they are 90% the same thing. So i say we just kill them all :)

Kadin is right. Bots can be very sophisticated.

Macroing is a very, very simple form of a bot.

One very good way to deter bot creators, is to apply regular updates. When I say regular, I mean every day. Only the most determined bot developers will keep on developing and supporting bots for games that do that.

The update applied can be quite simple. Anyone who knows their own code and how hacks and bots work, how they access your code, will know what to do to cause the headache for bot developers.

OMG, there are actually two people who collectively spent 20k on this game. I am done, lol.

I did now, and you are right. There are two people who've collectively spent 20k on this game. That doesn't make any sense.
