Your origin MMO?
Hey guys!
My MMO experience pretty much revolves around years of playing, primarily these games + a few extras.
Everyone I've met in this community, so far, has been on the other side of the MMO spectrum - with experience in games like ESO & WoW. AoC seems like a beautiful mix of many MMO genres, but is there anyone around who has the same background as me? Really curious to find out.

I played WOW for 11 years it pretty much consumed my soul!! I tried other mmo's but they didn't interest me to long like WOW did
Info down below! ( Want to dive into the community join the Discord)
You guys seem to have responded in the same way as most people I've spoken to have. I wonder why AoC hasn't attracted the attention of the players in games I've played as much as the more realistic-based MMOs. To me, it seems like a healthy mix between these two sub-genres.
Currently I'm focusing on ESO, I think it's fun and I plan continuing it and doing the new expansion!
I was a little kid when I played EQ, so my memories are all fuzzy. The graphics were so impressive at the time, but when I saw TheLazyPeon play it on his Throwback Thursday stream, it really hit home how much games have changed both visually and in terms of gameplay mechanics.
Hmm I think mainly because AoC is not out yet or Because its still a Pre-alpha or it could even be because the player is fine where they are at not alot of people like change!!
I personally need a new game I've been on a dying streak lately no other game has got my attention like this in years!! And I"M 21 This is a Crime!!!
WoW,Rift, the other AoC, GW2, TSW, ESO, DCU, BDO,AA, Defiance, and some others for like 1 hour..because they were not good
Really would like to see some people from the same MMO background as me :((
If we can all agree on one thing though, its the AoC hype.
My first MMORPG was Anarchy Online. I didn't played much and I was really a nub, but I got hooked by the exploration and the social aspect. I could speak with people from ALL OVER THE WORLD !
After that I played World of Warcraft and that's the game that made me a gamer. Played it exclusively for 7 years and did everything from hardcore roleplay to PVP and semi-hardcore raiding. Also started to lead my own guilds, communities and projects.
Then I tried other games. Some more than others. Aion, Rift, Tera, SWTOR, The Secret World, GW2, Wildstar, FFXIV, ArcheAge, Black Desert and of course, my main game, where I started as Youtuber and Streamer The Elder Scrolls Online.

TDLR: My main games were World Of Warcraft(7years and more), GW2(2years) and The Elder Scrolls Online(4years).

My origin RPG is D&D.
My origin MMORPG is EQ.
But like the above poster mentioned my first RPG was D&D, when it first came to the UK, cost a fortune as you could only get it on import.
WoW & Rift were the last ones I did any real time in..
Since then pretty much every F2P, P2P and P2W out :)
@CinemaSix I'd consider MMORPG to already be a niche genre within the gaming world in the first place. Then, within that genre, I'd consider Anime MMORPGs as further niche, so you're less likely to encounter players from Aura Kingdom etc.
I'm sure lots of gamers have enjoyed the surge of Asian MMOs from Korea and China (and my country Japan to a lesser extent due to most of their MMOs being domestically locked), but part of the reason why I'm backing AoC is I dislike many of the practices that these non-Western MMOs implement.
It's been a while since we've had a dominant MMORPG come out of the west (though to be fair, I haven't tried ESO, but I doubt it's EQ / WoW level). My favorite MMO in recent years was GW2, so Korea still has the leg up in my view.
WOW
DAOC
LOTRO
Rift
I have tried to here recently not get to invested into games since my hopes of seeing WOD World of Darkness died. I really hope this game can take what made those games great and invest more into them.
(i.e. it was an App) It probably was a MOBA ... but didn't feel like one.
But it did contain a few interesting ideas i that sparked my interest in MMOs.
Haven't seen an AAA title that has the potential of AoC, so putting a lot of hope into it.
