Races and stats.

I'm sure there are topics for both of these, but to make this a TL;DR.

In older MMOs such as DAoC, and Shadowbane, when you selected your race, you had specific stats, so every race had different starter stats, from there you also had the ability to put points into specific stats that you felt were relevant to the class, for example, if you were a tank, you would put more points into constitution rather than strength or dex.

Do you think Ashes will bring back this approach to MMOs, or do you think they will stick to a more, every race has the same stats, just slighty different passives like WoW and other MMOs

I hope they bring back the more old school stats, a bit harder for you to figure out, but so much more rewarding once done :) Personally I hope they go for a PoE approach, basicly giant skill tree that both grant stats and passives.

Honestly I like having the only minor differences between races, given the fact that they mean so much cosmeticly. I don't wanna be limited by having to pick a certain race to get the best tank stats or whatever. Instead I'd want a large skilltree to spec into instead :)

I dont know if it has changed in last years but when i playd wow the races made massive difference, most races were unviable. For pvp you had to be alliance side and human or night elf and for raiding you had to be horde side and orc or troll. I dont think its a healthy model to force players to play spesific races.

Hmm, honestly speaking, I don't know what to think of that idea. Yes, I would love a variety of races but should players be forced to play a certain race because of their racial traits, preferable not!
I would rather see a passive buff or a certain racial skill that isn't too imba. High Humans, aren't effected by Frost [Frost - Debuff, movementspeed decreased by 10%].

Yes! A nice skill tree that offers a lot of fine-tweaking sounds awesome to me! But it must be done right, we players should get a little help in the early stages. Let's say, changing statts until Level 30 is free of charge after that a small contribution must be payed (to the gods).
