What are parlor games? You mean like spin the lucky wheel or smash the gopher or gambling and slot machines?

But the first person to suggest "dwarf tossing" will answer to 'me hammer! Bah!
Toss the Dwarf - Gimli will never approve
That didn't take long..... me and my big mouth! Hah!
In case you're not familiar, it's a card game like a very simplified version of MTG or Hearthstone that you can play with opponents around the Witcher world. What's cool about it is that a huge part of the system is collecting rare cards and building your deck - through achievements, world exploration, killing certain bosses/mobs, etc. Since area exploration is shaping up to be an intrinsic part of Ashes, I think a similar system would work great here!
Note: doesn't have to be cards - this dynamic of exploring for collectibles to be used in parlor games could apply to pet battles, or even standard games (like chess) where your pieces are re-skinned based on your achievements.
I used to play a RPG on the SegaCD called Lunar: The Silver Star.
In the sewers, in one of the cities, was a guy that you could gamble with by playing Blackjack.
That little mini game was so damn fun, I kept a permanent save game right at that location so I could play it whenever the mood struck me.
You wouldn't think something like that would be exciting, but their implementation was more fun than any dedicated pc blackjack game I could find at the time, back then.
So, depending on how they implement things, even the most simple of game ideas could turn into fun little diversions.
I personally, hope we see "Gallows Dude" were one player selects a word and others guess the letters contained in that word. Every time they guess incorrectly, a part of a drawn stick figure is made under a noose.
