Playerkilling

Going through the videos, all I have seen so far about the PK system is if you PK you get a corruption, devs state if you get corruption it will eventually end in death. I don't know if this means it will kill you or people will come after you so hard that you're more than likely to die from it.

Personally I would like to see alternative play styles where players who gain corruption have new options of game play open to them other then just trolling other players. maybe in the form of leading them down a path or story that unlocks when corruption is accumulated.

anyone have any thoughts, opinions, or more information on what the devs have in place for a PK system?

I don't have a specific reference, but I do not believe you will just die upon gaining a certain amount of corruption. I think corruption accumulates through PKing, making it harder to lose your corrupted status.

While corrupted, you will be trackable by bounty hunters and can be killed without other players needing to flag for PvP. There are also penalties associated with dying while corrupted, but I'm not sure these have been ironed out as of yet.

As much as I hate to bring this game up, Archeage had a cool idea of making you an "outlaw" by having you go into the Pirate Faction when you reached too much crime points.

However AoC doesn't have factions, but it would be cool to see player run "Thieve's Nodes" where people with high corruption live. There would be no worse hive of scum and villainy.
  • You don't want to encourage thieves nodes. The point is to protect people from becoming scooby snacks for evil players.  Maybe corruption will work like poison and it slowly depletes your stamina. When a player becomes strong enough they can turn evil and no one will be able to stop them unless it's a group or something but what if the evil player is super strong? Or maybe it's a group of super strong players that decide to work together to be evil. A poison effect would prevent that.
  • @OP, regarding getting corruption from player killing, it accrues more and more, this in turn impacts your attack power and resistances i believe, essentially making you 'naked' so others can kill you easily.
It lights/flags you up so others with bounty hunter skill can track you easier and you receive higher damage from attacks of a Holy/Light skill line.
This is what i got from watching the live streams at least.
  • Occasional PK shouldn't be harshly punished, griefing should be punished harsher.

This means if you meet someone out in the woods, kill him (for loot) and move on, consequences are only mild / barely noticeable... but... if you follow someone (that is in non combat mode) and kill him repeatedly (grief him), that should have harsh consequences.
