Lore

When will the game lore be released? My friend and I are interested in creating a guild, but we don't really know where to start without the lore as we want to be lore-friendly.

  • No idea, short answer: A long time.

Long answer: I havent heard of any writers on the team yet, meaning it will take some time before its not just a very rough sketch of ideas. I would bank on at least several months before it gets really interesting:) (hopefully sooner).

Yeah, I don't understand how there are already 700+ threads under Guild Recruitment already when there's no lore to follow. I don't understand why people are making guilds when they don't know the lore. They will only end up as lore-breakers.

haha true wouldnt assume most people care about lore, most probably care more about having good players or a good community ;)

It's an MMORPG, if people want to make all these fancy guilds with fancy names and make up their own lore, they won't be able to fully integrate to the game.
  • My understanding is that the lore is already very much developed Geffry Bard is the lead writer. However the lore is unknown to us as we will not discover it until it is discovered in the rich narrative the devs keep refering to in their Q&As  What we know so far.  The world was destroyed/abandoned due to something. Thousand of years later the world gates started working and we (the players) have steped through to re discover, re poulate and rebuild this long abandoned world........   Or so we thought, as lurking beneath the surface is a race of beings that apear to never have left due to the previous events but rather retreated bellow the surface only now re emerging to meet the new peoples that entered through the world gates.  Or something like that.  I love lore too and enjoy writing fan fiction. however there is not much to go on at the mo.  The devs have said they will give us titbits from time to time but no big revials until it is discovered in game.
  • Yeah...that...pretty much sums up everything we know, lol.  I think the only other thing is that multiple gods exist, which form the basis for the multiple religions.

Well some people do, but I think 9/10 of my IRL friends that play MMOs read about 1% of the lore, even though they are in fancy guilds and whatnot. Its no problem for me, they can read the lore if they want, I don't think its their purpose with playing@EndoftheEnd
That being said I love lore, it adds a lot of meaning to the game.

Lore is needed to create a guild, not be in one.
  • Well I'm in a guild and we've managed to create a base lore for now with the little information that we have :0
You might find that we won't get much lore until the game releases we've been told we will find out about our racial histories as we play - unless I remember wrong ^^
  • Yeah. I'm with you @endoftheend , with the lore and better understanding of the world it will help flesh out the guild identity.

Like @Diura, We currently have a basic generic description for our guild but will infuse more lore as it is revealed to us.  It mainly describes the type of players and our personalities.

The main idea of the lore is there we will probably update it to suit the world a little better. Bandit Lords who have decided to settle and defend citizens from an evil ruler. Ala robin hood.

However, not all guilds will bother about lore though. There will be guilds that just consist of players with the same goals striving to achieve something in game while they build their own stories as they play. We also understand that not all players in our guild will really be bothered by our lore. Haha. So I don't agree that "lore is needed to create a guild".
