soul bound items

Will there be soul bound items in game? or will they be level specific?

Comments

  • I hope there are no soul bound items, I hate to just throw away stuff because is bound to a character.
  • Maybe let crafters be able to 'unbind' certain pieces.  Nothing Epic but maybe greens and blues so that they can be sold / traded?

  • The devs have said that nearly everything will be tradeable no soul or account bound things.

Yeah, that was mentioned during one of the livestreams. Crafters will have regular work recharging enchantments on magical weapons etc.
  • I could be wrong, but I thought I heard them say that there may be some soulbound stuff.  Most would not be, but they might slip in a few here and there.
  • Items such as Kickstarter exclusives will be account bound, but as of now the development team is saying the main items such as armor or weapons will be tradable.
  • I expect backer things will be account bound and maybe some unique rewards but i expect these will be cosmetic things not level restricted weapons etc.
  • Yeah, makes sense.  Achievement-based rewards, Kickstarter stuff, maybe some quest rewards...
  • I hope that that epic achievement mount that I'm working day and night to get is not able to be traded.

Good to know: never been a big fun of the SoulBound concept myself.
  • NO SOUL NO SOUL!
  • There would be, but really alot alot not of them. Maybe the specific or sort of legendary items that recruir alot of time to get from a quest line or something those will be SB.

But thier idea was, if u want something better you can give your weapon to your friends and such.
  • If everything can be traded and sold on, how are they going to stop the inevitable drop in prices as items become more and more common?

Take Runescape for example, you can trade essentially all items but they have a full loot system where upon death you drop almost all of your equipment, this acts as a method of taking wealth out of the world.

Players die, they have to either craft or purchase new weapons and armour and it's what keeps the economy going round.

Games like World of Warcraft counter this with their 'bind' system, it doesn't matter if items are super common because once it has been equipped it's essentially out of the economy and no longer in circulation.

Not sure what the economy will be like if things are being constantly brought into the economy without methods of taking them back out of the economy too.

Items decay and eventually permanently break, taking them out of the economy.

That would be pretty decent - do you have a source for this?

As far as I was aware items could 'break' when their durability reached zero but repairing them was still possible, just a bit more expensive than if the durability didn't reach zero.

Permanently breaking would definitely do the job of removing items from the world though with the added benefit of having crafters repair items on the road to complete degradation.
