    Updated with both links.
  • I very much doubt we'll see this before 2019 at the earliest.

If you do a google search with a fair portion of the text it appears to come from a valid article. Although recently posted, how valid the info is is unknown.

The Article was posted here on Zam's website:

The article was first posted on Ashes twitter. I provided links to both the twitter post and article.

Lewis Rothschild: [in the president's limo called the beast] I tell any girl I'm going out with to assume that all plans are soft until she receives confirmation from me thirty minutes beforehand.

Robin McCall: And they find this romantic?
Lewis Rothschild: Well, I say it with a great deal of charm.

This is how I look at release/testing dates. :)

  • That's the date stated on the kickstarter as the delivery date, although I imagine it means tha alpha or something, rather than the final version.
  • I see this more as a goal. They have a good amount of the game done right now, but they have things to iron out. Alot of the way things are spoken of in the Livestreams made me feel like some of the questions they got from the community were about things not currently ironed out. I'd prefer they finish said ironing before they release it.

Well said, I agree. But on the other hand I think I would rather play an unfinished Ashes than the sub par mmo's the industry has been force feeding us the last few years.
  • Chyeah! Latest than Steven himself.  LOL!
  • I can see a test phase public alpha at that point if their lucky and ninja quick. Other than that I'd say it might be a little off. Still cross your fingers and here's to hoping for an early and quality release!
  • I think that the article was probably citing the info on the kickstarter that expected delivery is late 2018. I think that this would be out of worldly optimistic to expect a finished product by then, especially given the current development. It has been mentioned a few times to expect the stage 1 alpha around this time, fingers crossed that we can get into the alpha a little sooner though
  • I'm actually very confused. I've known of these dates (within reason) since early May, it's on the KS.
    Late 2018 is release (estimated).
Unless i'm missing something this thread is just confirming the info already released months ago.

I am likely just misreading all the posts... Dyslexia strikes again.
  • Yeah certainly weird to be finished a game in that time especially for one as hopefully vast and detailed as we would hope.
Maybe they can clarify this a bit more during the next live stream or let us know via discord/forum.

The following is the only "confirmed" dates we had for anything. The only real release date we have been told is before 2020. The Kickstarter dates the community was assuming it was an Alpha date.

Friends and Family TBA- Invite Only Q4 2017- Phase 1 Alpha December 2018- Phase 2 Alpha  TBA
  • If the info came from Steven, and if what is said in the article is an accurate reporting of what he stated, then you can pretty much take it as a goal.  But it's also important to understand that a goal is about as firm as Jello®.  Things happen, plans change.  Sometimes for the better, sometimes it goes the other way.

I think it's great they have goals they're shooting for.  I think we need to understand they are not solid dates and we can't expect to hold them to it and when those dates arrive, complain if it's not at that stage.  Do I want the game as soon as possible?  Definitely.  Do I want them to have the time they need to make it the game we're all hoping it will be?  Absolutely!
