The most grievous of errors! Please Help! (aka, The Survivor of Original Forums Badge Situation)

To @Yaviey, @Sarumonin, @Rimirg @DeathsProxy, @Freddyswordd, @Shunex (who is not actually David Tennant) and the powers that be!

I come to you today to address a matter most urgent, and an injustice most grave!
I stand before you here and now, and humbly beg you all in your honorable moderator glory to correct a grievance most foul that has worked it's way into the very foundation of our beloved forums!
This issue of the utmost importance is, of course, the tragedy surrounding the legendary Survivor of the Original Forums Badge!

As you can clearly see, a great many people were bestowed this glorious honor - and rightly so! The honor granted to these names reflects the fact that they are pioneers and the hardships they endured in the forums of old!

I begrudge them not! Nay, the tragedy here in our very midst is that there are many more well deserving names that are not upon that wall, with no Survivor badge to call their own!

Yes, it's true, I count my own name among this group.... and if it were myself alone, I could forgive this oversight!  Why, a lone dwarf in the crowd could be easily overlooked!  But it isn't just me alone. Why, such pillars of this growing community as @nagash, @dygz, @AutumnWillow, @CylverRayne, @lexmax, @Karthos, @virtek, @julemanden, and many others - so many others more than I can mention, are without their badge!  So many good folk here in the Ashes of Creation forums that have forged their position in the fires of enthusiasm prior to the month of June have not received honor of their Survivor badge!   Why, poor @Diura has so many credentials and accolades here in our community that she is in a league of her own, yet even she hasn't received her badge!

How can this travesty stand?  How can we continue to thrive in this new forum nation where good decent hearty peoples from around the distant lands not receive the honor they have so rightly earned?

And it is for these good folk, not for myself, that I humbly beg you - the fine noble moderators of the land - to put right this most unfortunate of wrongs.
And from the ashes of this hardship, we can once again build anew a home of creativity and prosperity for all...  I leave this matter in your capable hands.

Thank you.

  • Wonderfully crafted @Rumbleforge!

  • I will add my prayers that this terrible mishap gets swiftly fixed.  For if all those poor 307 voices start to cry out to express their terrible anguish it will get quite loud in here. Except perhaps Rumbleforge, his keen awareness of the suffering of others makes me feel his own badge is needed to somehow reflect that.

Well written,  @Rumbleforge, as @lexmax has already said.

I'm really giddy (ands very honored!) that you included me in your list!  Here I am...looking up to you and everyone else you named, among many others... as you said; there are too many to name and I'd feel bad leaving anyone out.

Ya makin me blush, ya handsome dwarf, You!

Seriously though, thank you for having the brass to bring this up in such a manner!  As disheartened as I was, I didn't feel comfortable bringing it up myself.  Mainly because there are so much more deserving of recognition than I, yourself included.

    @Shunex.
Thank you so much for the update! The forums have been undergoing many changes here lately, and not everything can be done in "one fell swoop."   =)

Edited for grammar, because spellcheck is amazing....

I really wonder how this works... I honestly thought this would be done instantly to all with something like (if the database key of this badge would be 42)

    INSERT INTO table_userbadges (key_badge, key_user)
    SELECT '42', key_user FROM table_users WHERE date_created < '2017-05-31'

obviously vanilla forums will use different names or even a completly different structure opposed to that example.. what im trying to say is: via SQL this might have saved a lot of "roll out" work?

This is going to sound like I'm a huge moron but I thought Dirura was a guy.

  • I was just dusting around  and I came across some wounded baby phoenix chicks wandering around unclaimed. There must be, I don't know, around 307 of them!

Poor little things, they look kinda sad. I'm sure there are plenty of folk that wouldn't mind adopting one.

    For the chickens!
