Many guilds raise money internally by a weekly raffle system, to pay for gear for members, rent for guild hall, market place stand etc. I am certain that guilds will need to raise funds for many different reasons in this game.
This is sometimes a game mechanic in MMORPGs but can also be an abused honor system when no mechanic is available in game to support.
