Oceanic Server

I've been told that it's been confirmed that there will be an Oceanic Server for this game, however will there even be enough Oceanic players to support this Server? And if not, would the server be closed like what SWTOR did.

    I had thought about this but I imagine they are expecting by having an oceanic server will draw some oceanic players to the game because not many mmos have oceanic servers -^^

    it depends an what is the sweet spot for server population is.
    Oceanic server is what motivated me back the game.

    There is stil 2+ years of development to generate player interest.
    and the AUNZ region has a fairly consistent MMO base.

    In general if interest dwindles to unsustainable numbers then servers will merge/shutdown.

    I am not sure how Intrepid intend to manage such a scenario due to the nature of Server growth specifics, but it is a possibility.

    There are quite a number of oceanic players. And there has been any news/confirmation that the SEA servers might be combined with Oceania

    Playing from Asia myself, but more up north. The trend I have seen from US based games is they go in with good intentions for having Oceanic servers, and if the player base in OZ or SEA crumbles, they shut them down after a year or so. Ultimately comes down to the fees/bother that they have with the ISP company that hosts their server and whether they need to have a server engineer from their actual company physically move to where it is located, or if they can find a place that will handle it on the far end. OZ has a bad reputation for their ISPs and internet, thus their shitty connection to the rest of the world. I am hoping for a physically based in at least SEA, cause playing from Japan, my latency to WOW oceanic servers was worse than US west coast servers, so it was always a trade off. Play on servers with a better connection, but dead at the time I played, or play on servers that were busy when I played, but with a shittier ping.

    Currently google have cloud serves in Singapore and they're expecting to have 3 locations in Sydney this year. Intrepid have said that their server host is google so the servers will likely be the new cloud servers in Sydney or potentially the ones in Singapore. Time will tell.

    there oceanic server and oceanic guilds. Check the guild list to see all the guilds who have already started recruiting for oceanic guilds.
