Out of curiosity: guilds, one or more?

I've come to understand that there will be guilds devoted to economy or religion, or any other thing.

From the point of view of the role player, having more than one affiliation may truly break the immersion, though this is an option, I believe, available in some games.

I'm not that much of a RP, so I ask you: would you prefer a system were you can choose more than one guild for your character or would you rather resort to alliances of sort? Or, maybe and more simply, do this with one character and that with another?

I'm thinking about people, say, from Germany, wanting to play with fellow german, in order to communicate easier, maybe in small friendly groups, or people that alternate between hardcore pvp action and unwinding pve without getting on the way of guilds devoted to this or that activity, or willing to roleplay but just on wednesday and so forth... moody players!

My spider senses tell me that you'll be able to choose only one guild at a time, so this is just a curiosity of mine.

Spider senses are right ^^ Each character can join a guild so 'spying' is possible. Guilds can be part of alliances ^^

    From the Dev's Q&A:

Will your account be locked to your main guild?

    • I would tend to not go that route, the reason is when you have a non faction based open world game, Intelligence gathering and political intrigue, and espionage are an important factor for gameplay. If i were to account lock guilds I would be removing away a healthy aspect of the game for certain players.

    Thanks @lexmax

As Diura said, you can only join one guild ;)What I don't know if it is one guild per character or account (BDO Style)

Okay, just saw AutumnWillow post, nevermind xD

I would prefer 1 guild per account to avoid spies. But you can always pay for another account so doesn't really matter.

I think it's the solution that fits best to Ashes. In all hoensty if you spout around your deepest guild secrets and plans with every random jokey that joins, you deserve to get some nasty surprises. ^-^

Yeah. Or start shouting caravan routes and timing.

"we won't have enough guards to guard our shipment so no one says anything to any one okay?"

Being able to have alts join different guilds sounds like the best way.  Hate to say it, but being able to spy is an option in this type of game that people will need to take into account and live with the consequence one way or the other in determining their actions.   Beware and know your surroundings. :)

Since we know that one guild per character is confirmed and they encourage spying and want to see intrigue and things like that, I would love to see a spy Mastermind that goes to a big guild and after a year of big work and intrigue that on betrays that guild by big things or so. Could be really interesting to hear and see such things, even when the guild that experience this will be pretty sad, hehe

Super happy about this decision, myself!  I tend to have one character that is dedicated to running with friends, and is usually in a very small very slow moving guild with them.   BUT I have most of my characters that go heavy in PvE content and push to be competitive.   This game is going to get me more interested in PvP, too so.....I'll probably need to join a third guild for either the PvP action itself or for spying purposes.

Much fun will be had, either way.   ^.^
