Guild : Will people make their own guilds with friends, or join the big ones? (eeee 2.0)

I've always been a fan of starting my own guild and try to make it grow, and be able to say that i started this guild if it one day should grow big,  but i've never actually been able to, or put enough effort in it. This time i think i will though, as i have a lot of friends who will join me on this adventure.

whats the opinion of the general public?

  • I typically form guilds from the followers of a twitch streamer.
If I'm going to join a guild, it has to be with friends and like-minded players.
My gameplay is way too chill and casual challenge to join a guild of strangers.
  • There will be advantages and disadvantages for each size of guild so it'll be interesting to see the choices players make when it comes to guild decisions down the line. I for one joined a guild on here a few weeks back. We plan on being small and I absolutely love it already :) I can't wait to play with them all in game ^^
  • I'm pretty sure I won't be the one that creates a guild and rules over it as a guildmaster. I've never been the person who likes to be in the spotlight. Then again, I enjoy helping others (was an officer in multiple guilds in WoW, helped our raid leader too), so I'll probably follow someone compatible.
  • I plan on making my own guild. My friends can be a little wishy washy, so they are hardly ideal candidates for founding members haha. My hope is to begin forming a guild on the forums prior to launch, so once a server is decided we can get the ball rolling on developing our Node.
  • I usually just make one to be alone in, so many random invites otherwise x.x
  • The truth is you can do whatever you want when it comes to guilds. you can make one of your own or join an already established one
  • Me, my fiance and a couple of friends are planning on starting our own guild. It will be small and focused on quality rather than quantity (nothing against larger guilds, just not my cup of tea). And seeming as we have a long wait ahead of us, it will give us time to get to know each other and make plans for release, will be fun! :)
  • I see. Thanks for the replies! I would personally like to make one with some friends but id also be down to join a guild already now if anyone invites me

  • That's the one thing I have not seen much off is personal recruitment

I usually wait and fly solo/with friends for a good while. This is mainly due to not wanting to just join an "end game" guild-but would much rather find one that actually fits me. It's much more important to have a guild that dont just fit your goals, but also fits your personality. Those members will be the people you spend countless hours with over the next billion years as you bang away on your keyboard after work.

Of course, with programs such as Discord and these forums, it's much easier to do that these days without months of watchful eye gaming hammering it out solo.

Back to topic, I think regardless of person, everyone could open their own guild if the person can complete certain conditions around money and level.

  • I've lead guilds and been an officer in many. No thanks.

I want to join a guild that is laid back but focused. Let's me be the charming individual I am and doesn't saddle me with meetings.

Let's play the game. Let's be friends. Let's be awesome

yeah man totally. Thats what it's all about.
  • I am coming to the game with a small group and we are planning to be in our own guild...
I personally like the idea of small guilds better then large, larger guilds tend to have more drama issues

yep i def agree. Smaller communities get closer faster.
  • i think its better to join friends guilds. large guilds tend to be horrible imo. small guilds that grow into large guilds tend to be better for me.
  • Unless any of my friends start their own guild, I will probably join one together with them.
  • I have been a guild leader in SWG and SWTOR and an officer in other games.  I Dont have the same time to commit anymore so I will be looking for a friendly EU guild that wants a commited but casual as far as time comitment is concerned player. I prefer guilds that arent too big so you actually know people and are not just one of the hord.  I would hope to be able to join some of the lovely people I meet here ready for launch but I wont be making any desisions until much closer to release.
  • id like to find a non zerg hardcore guild..
    meh will be hard...as allways
  • The first guild I was GM of was a guild for newbies. I recall, very well, the patience that my first guild master and officers had with me as I asked my "Stupid Question of the Hour." It was in WoW, and at that time, I made for all newcomers to the game, who joined my guild, four netherweave bags and gave them 10g.

That was a big deal, back then.

I really, really enjoyed watching people as they grew to love the game, as they grew into themselves. Some left the guild to join progression guilds; it was great for them, and we kept in touch. Some left the game, but we remained in touch.

I think, for me, the primary focus of my guild involvement will always be "How can I help someone's game time be more enjoyable?" That doesn't mean I'm trying to be everything for everyone; rather, I found what I'm good at. I'm good at building folk up. I'm good at coordinating activities. I'm good at finding amazing people. So the guild we make for Ashes will have those components; I'll be one of three "leaders," which just means there are three of us who're willing to play cat-herders. We will likely be small(ish), but I anticipate we'll grow together and, as time goes by, we'll grow as a guild as well.

I'm all in favor of things that grow slowly, organically; these things tend to last longer, and that's my ultimate goal for a guild. One that will make friends, share friends, and last for a good long while.
  • I expect I will join a guild or two in the alpha betas. See which people suit I and I them. Then see if the guild I end out liking makes it to release. A lot of guilds fall apart between one point and another so I have time. Forums are great though, over the next two years we will all have a good idea of peoples base personalities.
  • @AutumnWillow GO, UMJI GO~

    SMALL GUILD GOOD. MEMBER REMEMBER.

SMALL GUILD NAME TWO PLUS TWO OR THREE WORD.

BIG GUILD ONE WORD. MABBE ONE PLUS ONE WORD.
  • i will do both
  • I'm going to run as a guild master. I do it rarely because well I'm lazy at times and putting out effort is ugh... However, this time around I feel like it'll be worth all the extra bits and I'm hoping I can kidna.... I mean coerce some of you into joining me by the time of launch. =3
  • I'm currently the leader of Bandit Lords but very likely won't be the most proficient in the game by far. I just like to help. Haha.

I'll have to rely on the strength and expertise of my other officers and guild mates. What I'm really actively looking for is for more SEA players to join the sea discord community.

Personally, community first, guild recruitment later.

That being said. I look forward to joining some forum based community during the alpha and beta. My plans aren't set in stone. Who knows how things might turn out in the future if the community is extremely strong I'm not personally against joining a non-sea server.
  • Thanks for the activity! Lots of good ideas and views. Still not sure what I'll be doing though but hopefully I'll get invited to some chill guild haha. I'm all about good vibes
  • I'll join one most likely. I haven't the time or interest to make one. It sounds like too much work.
