Dear @Intrepid, @Yaviey

I'm on your side for the paypal / kickstarter incident, I personally feel that the banks should be ensuring that their customers debit cards are suitable for todays global internet society....

I'm on your side because I'm really really hyped and enthusiastic about the game....

I haven't been able to watch any live streams before today 17/6 because I'm on the other side of the world to you.

Because most of your key giveaways have been in streams this has felt a little well, like we're nothing to care about, but I've kept the positive hype..

Today I managed to make it to a stream, I stayed awake ... it's just finished and it's midnight now... I only came because of the promise of an alpha key give away, one that I could actually participate in.

Nope, no giveaway, it's terribly disappointing and it feels like a bit of a snub.

Please please, when doing things in future, could you make more of an effort to consider your global market and not ignore anyone who's not in the US?

Hoping to regain some of that hype.

  • "America First" *snaps finger to the side*  :D

    Jokes aside

Add Affrica  and Asia to the list, eventhough the backers/supporters/observers are way less in those continents.  :D
  • I always liked Euro players. Mainly because I am quite the insomniac and I never play until the kids go to sleep. This usually leaves me playing at all hours of the night, and going to work with 1 hour or less sleep.
Generally, the Euro's are my player base, as people in my time zone (central mountain time) are all Zzzzing away during the times I am on.
  • _I think more than anything what bugged me was the lack of consideration, just say at the start of the stream, sorry no keys today, and I could have been in bed an hour earlier....

And yes, I should be including all non us zones in this topic, Africa, Asia, Oceania etc, I'd amend the title but the last time I did that it decided to duplicate the entire topic...

I set the alarm clock for 6am but I decided to go back to bed and catch the stream later but that was also due to the fact that I wasn't planning to roll for an alpha key.

Perhaps I've got a low threshold for positive stuff. I already felt love for the non-us communities based on them saying that they will be making servers for EU, OCE and SEA.

Perhaps they just simply didn't realise, that there were players who's purpose of catching the livestreams is for a chance at one of the alpha keys and it isn't really a slight on Non-US players.

    :)

  • In all fairness Intrepid are a normal working business in America so I can understand the late times for streams but the next stream is 3 hours early which is a lot better for people around the world. For the key give away it is pretty annoying but not much we can do about that but hope that more events like the guild event on the Friday coming will offer Keys at better times ^^
There are always chances to win keys on the forums too with random weekly draws ^^
My luck is on the negative side of the scale so I doubt I'll be winning anything on forums or twitch but I still like to try aha.
It was disappointing that there was no key giveaway last night or no warning of the lack of key giveaway but I imagine it was because @Yaviey wasn't there for some reason :(
  • +++

I always have to watch the streams back, offline. I am not going to stay up till 00:00 for them to start.

But the June "kickstarter" will probbaly have, paypall, ideal and such.
  • Makes me feel bad. I didn't think much about the other countries players not having alpha keys. I honestly watched not just to listen to the news, but for the chance for the drawing of an alpha (since the keys they give away get in earlier than even the earliest alpha from KS...which is odd) I have an alpha key from my pledge. I can't speak for other Americans, but as for me, I will not participate in another drawing. Good luck. Hope at least some of you all get one.
  • Isn't the next stream June 30th 3 hours earlier for EU viewers?  I am from the UK so staying up until midnight to watch the stream when I work the next day just cant happen.  Like others I have watched the stream the next day most of the time.  I undrstand people who want a chance to win a key's frustration, I fall into that catagory however we still can be a random pick from owning a forum account.  No mater what time they do the stream some people somewhere are not going to be able to watch it.  :(

ikr man!I've to stay up till 2 am, but luckily my classes tend to start fairly late.
  • I stayed up till 1am during the KS streams although I had to work the next day and I did not like it, even though I don't have to get out of the house til 8:30 am. But it got better:
    - Stream on friday! No work for the most people the next day, so up until 1am is no big problem
    - Next stream will be 3 hours earlier, awesome :)

And I think what @Diura said before really has to be considered. Yes, Intrepid is an US business, so the following has to be considered:
    - They need work-time to finish up the stream-prep
    - That leaves probably a max window of stream-start-possibility from 11am to 4pm
    - the complete time-window is semi-optimal, because they simply cant make a stream at a time where the regular working adult can watch it, because... they work too, you know? So the later they do it, the better for US
    - The later they do it, the worse for the rest of the world
    - But in the afternoon, they at least get all US people that either finish shifts somewhat fitting AND kids that get home from school

So... 3 pm is already kind of a compromising sweet spot. The move to friday is the best they could have done for the rest of the world and 3 hours earlier is probably very bad for US fans; big bonus-karma to Intrepid for that.. it basically IS only for the rest of the world.
  • It's hard to accommodate all the time zones.  Even living in the US it gets confusing some times with day light savings time interfering. lol.  I think my car is still set wrong.
It looks like Intrepid is trying to accommodate people the best they can.

Nurph  And yes 3pm is bad.  Most people on the west coast would be working or on their way home.   No happy medium for all that's for sure.  I love how they really do try to balance things though. That in itself could point to the effort in a fairly balanced game. lol
  • Moving it to friday was already a good move.
I dont mind them diong 1 stream at US times then next stream 3h earlier the next time im from europe its not the best time but its alot better then waiting till 00:00PM on a friday if you have to work the saturday

You have to remember there on PDT you cant expect them to come in early in the morning or stay late in the evening just to get a show out on EU prime time.

Now im probarly giong to get massively flamed over this but they should just stop diong raffles for keys in life streams. then no 1 would care about the times and people wont get butt hurt there wasnt a key raffle or they could not make the life stream.

  • I was planning on staying up, but hearing this im glad i didn't and caught the Z's. I know catching a stream just for keys doesnt sound great, but it's an inscentive at least for us EU peoples to try and make it. Either that, or the team make an effort to appeal to the EU zone a bit more with a stream that is more timefriendly for us once in a while.

I totally get the effects that the time zone differences have, my Viking is the only uk eu customer assistance agent in an American based government communication company, his colleagues don't get in until 2pm...

I don't mind having to stay up late, it's just the whole, come join us, we have treats for you!
    Nah, fooled you... feeling.

I really care very little about the keys themselves, first world problem that they are....just, and I'm probably saying this because I'm English, just the lack of consideration and courtesy to not come right out with it at the start.

(If would have attempted deletion of this at 5am this morning when my day starts, more grumpy last night due to a run in with a narrow minded fool, emotions back to hype hype and positivity today, only can't delete so will let this site a gentle death.:)

Much love to all, catch up in Monday! *wiggled fingers happily and scampers*

@Megs Don't worry mate.  Venting frustration is the best way to deal with it.  Better out than in I always say.   I think most people who stayed up for the possability of a key would feel exactly the same way.  Maybe Intrepid will see this thread and be more concious of the poor people with matchsticks in their eyes waiting for the key draw and let them know at the begining next time.

LOL Same! I never win anything.  I could have 1000 accounts be all but 5 of the viewers of the stream and still not get a key lol
