Opportunities for new fantasy weapons to be introduced.

I think there's a real opportunity to expand the high fantasy weapon armory.

Things like the clerics with whips, scientific ranger brandishing the sling shot, primitive forms being the sling, javelins carried by warriors.

Just think of how Iconic you could make the game by simply introducing new weapons to it! You could even add utility to these items.

You could lasso across a chasm indiana jones style with a whip, or if you're out of ammo with a sling or slingshot you could search for stones to restore your supply. With Javelins you could use them as short spears or throw them, maybe restoring ammo when you pull out your javelin like a spartan in 300.

I’d like a pair of katanas that, along with the regular usage, you throw at your opponents and then they would fly back into your hands. Another idea would be “throwing stars”, which would be craftable, not magic based.
  • ...ya
  • @Zomnivore I love to see high skill weapons like morning stars and flails. As you say iconic types of weapons.

@Morriganna yes! A range of throwing weapons would be awesome. Also think a boomerang type weapon would be pretty unique.

The more weapon choices the better!

With the idea of a gunslinger being gone after yesterdays stream I wonder if dual wielding crossbows could be an option? Those do not seem to be common in the MMO space.
  • I can just imagine Jeffrey Bards face if he were to read this post lol  :'(

@lexmax Cool idea with a boomerang.
I don`t mind to see some foils  also.

Truth is that there`s so many weapons in a world history to choose from, and way much more then that which can be just created .

    Waiting to be surprised.
  • I would love to see spell books as wepoans. you could have three books floating around you while you cast spells
  • We've seen the Mage use a spellbook as a weapon.

Weapons aren't class locked, so any class would be able to use that whip or sling or javelin. Some come classes would be able to use them better than others.

Most of the time when the female mage casts spells, her spelbook will be in hand. It feels a bit clunky/contrived atm but it is there. Most of the gamplay videos I've seen thus far have her as a focus (I believe that's Sharif's character)

  • Chained chakrams and whips!
  • I had said the exact thing earlier today in a comment. The low fantasy weapons don't match the high fantasy environment of  Ashes of Creation. I may be biased though, I really want some sort of scythe weapon like the sorc in BDO.  But as @lexmax had told me, there will be various ways to make weapons look cooler.
  • Second books as weapons please. I see fighters bashing the enemies' heads in. Tanks using them to parry. Rogues will two-handed bonk an enemy from the shadows. And I love to see a speed-based ranger flinging books non-stop.
