Node system doubts..

I am honestly a little sceptical about this whole node system (probably due to lack of information on my end).. So, let me get some clarification from you guys here..

When the node you reside at becomes under siege (through no choice of your own) and you lose, your node delevels. You lose all your hard earned work, the time and effort put into the game to support and to level said node? Or your vote for who becomes a leader of your node doesn't count cos the bigger guilds outvoted you? Or your node isn't leveled into the type of node you wish it to be (Example; You wanted a Scientific Node, but everyone else wanted a militaristic type.) due to other people having different opinions and desires of what should be done?

So basically, am I to understand this game will be run by the majority and will suck if you're constantly in the minority, as you'll always be stripped of any weight to influence the game?

I apologise in advance if anything said here is incorrect, as this is all information I've picked up and could be interpreting it all wrong, as I said, I am just here for clarification on what the go is! Thanks in advance.

  • Yep, political games are like that. The whole server will be controlled by 2-3 mega guilds/alliances at best.

I remember reading somewhere that node sieges will be declared upon a certain node after a deceleration of war. Meaning, Node sieges will not start randomly, they will be declared. As for your worries or concerns regarding the node system, let me enlighten you up

1: You emphasized that once your node is sieged, you lose all the hard work you put into that node. Well, if you work hard to get a node to a certain level, then you will work harder (and smarter) to defend that node from potential harm. So, if you worked hard on a node and it's destroyed, then maybe you were out matched, out played, out smarted, and other things that all mean "you don't deserve to keep that node:"

2: Your second concern was that large guilds might out vote you and become the leaders of a said node. Well, to vote you first have to be a citizen of that particular node. The only way large guilds can out vote you is if their members are above 50% of the citizens of that particular node. If that's the case, then they deserve to be the leaders of that node since they are the ones who contributed most towards developing that node. IT also means you've been outplayed :D

3: The last one is not considering many things. you say a node might not be leveled into what you would like because others want something else. Well, you've to understand that Nodes will not be leveled up publicly in the game. You can certainly contribute to leveling up a node if you just happen to do any activity in it's region of influence, but nodes will be mostly associated with guilds, or a coalition of guilds. Therefore, don't worry about a node being leveled into something you don't like because the decision is made by the guild members and not by the individual.
  • yeah all server controlled by same big zerg guilds like in every game would like server to have cap on guild with a 300 or so cap so big guild together and small guild together  with a 50 or so cap

I *think* I heard that your freehold layout would be stored as a 'blueprint' of sorts and that any furnishings etc would not be lost but 'stored' for reuse when you build again.......

Yes I think a lot of things will be subject to 'majority rule' but that's probably the best at fairest way to handle it.
  • Aw... So basically what you're telling me is that I need to sign up to the biggest fattest guild imaginable and then flirt with everyone to make them forget their own desires to get what I want? :/

    @Flameh0t
    1: A node de-levels one Stage.
So, a Metropolis de-levels from Stage 6 to Stage 5.
Another siege cannot be declared at that node for 40 days.

2: Leadership isn't permanent. Also, choose the type of government (node type) you like.
For example. Military node leadership is determined by combat prowess; not votes.

3: Type of node is not voted on. Node type is discovered at Stage 1 as soon as the first NPCs appear. If you don't like the node type, go to another node until you find the type you wish to focus on.

Not the only option, actually.  There are already a lot of smaller guilds talking about alliances with other like-minded small guilds.

Honestly, the only real limitation is player imagination and determination.

I'll remember that when I have an aerial view of my pk'd corpse about 10 feet from the portal I entered through.

Oh? So each of the 5 different nodes are already preset types upon discovery on stage 1? That sounds much better!
  • Yes. Also...
Four node types:  Economic; Scientific; Divine; Militaristic
A server can only have five Stage 6 (Metropolis) nodes.
