Rare Mounts

Hey guys, 
so i know that the devs have said that only the top people who are in charge of a castle (or something along those lines, i can't quite remember the specifics) will be able to get a flying mount like a dragon or a griffin. but with the ability to breed and tame mounts wouldn't it be possible for anyone to eventually get one. i understand the need for exclusive rewards for top players, but maybe they could do a sort of compromise where us non-top people could tame or breed a mount that is like a mini-dragon and doesn't fly but maybe glides or something. i just wonder what you guys think about this situation.

I think other players can get non-flying mounts, but flying is an exclusive thing for rulers.

The mayors of nodes get a flying mount for 30 days, yes. 

But I would easily see the devs making it not breedable, but are a rare drop.

Maybe dragons are like mules, they are made breeding a lizard and a bird together and are born sterile.

I'm hoping that breeding will eventually produce a very rare  breed according to breeding experience.

Steven also mentioned the possibility of eggs that can drop from epic mobs - which could hatch into a flying mount which expires after some time limit.

It will be very interesting to discover exactly what rare and exotic mounts there will be out in the world, and it will be very interesting to see what traits can be developed. There may well be other mounts that may have wings but as has been said they will only hover along the ground.
There may be other dragon like mounts, wyverns, etc that may be available or perhaps that ultra rare drop of an egg that was mentioned, though that did have a time limit to it.
Personally I would like to see bear's as mounts but that is a little off topic.

I'd rather have these mounts rare. If everyone's flying them around there will be no wow factor about them

They have already stated that they do not want flying mounts in the game except for the top players who have achieved mayor or king/queen status with the exception of a very rare drop from a raid boss that will last a certain period of time.

The rare drop is their compromise.  

I am sure there will be "rare" mounts in the game just not ones that fly.

I think that the properly flying mounts should be exclusive for the top people only. For one, it gives exclusivity to those roles and secondly I also think this is fair because there is no guarantee for the same people to stay leaders forever. This is especially the case if the commoners under their rule do not agree with their way of ruling, as far as I'm aware, it will be possible to overthrow arrogant and bad leaders.

I am very interested in the taming/breeding aspect, and I am beyond doubt certain that they will make this profession very interesting and rewarding to explore. Even though breeding flying mounts will be very unlikely, there are so many other creatures you will probably be able to find and breed. If you master the profession, you'll probably be able to breed some badass mounts/animals!
