I have no idea what guild I should try to join!

First let me say I am unsure if this is the right category but the guild one seemed to be just for guilds promoting themselves. I have heard of and been onto guildex but I still have no idea which guild is right for me. I have briefly gone through the EU guild fair but I am intending to go through the whole thing properly soon, when I have 2 free hours).

Now, to get to the point I am a bit overwhelmed by the huge amount of guilds already formed within this community (guildex is seriously an amazing site XD). I think that while this is great, it almost leaves too much choice XD. I would appreciate if anyone could suggest a guild which is in the direction I am aiming for.

In the past I have played a few MMO's and reached various stages within them. The only one I hit the true end game in was Neverwinter as my friends playing with me this time were different and they didn't drop it, and I found playing the end game content with them all really fun (despite how painful the grind was as a cleric XD). Sadly the guild I made with said friends crashed and burned as the friend who wanted to be leader, while doing what he could, failed to promote the guild to the right people.

In ashes, I would like to be in a serious guild which, while wanting to cover most aspects of the game, will be one of the more competitive ones when it comes to completing end game content. I am from the UK and while I am a student at university, I spend almost all me free time online so I would be very active.

So in summary, what is a good guild to try and join for someone looking for a pvx serious guild who has a bit of MMO history but has never been part of a major guild?

  • Did u watch the guild fair?
  • There are alot of guilds fishing this pond right now. Just start talking to people!
  • @BCGiant I have briefly gone through the EU one  and intend to watch it properly when I have 2 free hours (should have mentioned in post, may edit it in) and I am still torn over which. There were a couple that interested me but none stood out, maybe that will change at the next one.
  • I understand what you are saying.  I've been part of both over the years.  Personally I am waiting to see what develops in guilds. Being involved here on the forums and watching the chat in discord givens me a sense of what people are like.  The quality in leadership, the members and their over all out look  says more to me then the size of the guild.
We have a long ways to go before Ashes hits the ground.
  • None, because joining any guild that isn't a preset of people from another game is pointless this early in development.

I see the point you are making but isn't reaching out and getting to know the guild and it's members ahead of time a good thing?
  • I found the "will be one of the more competitive ones when it comes to completing end game content." comment interesting. While it is still early days, there has been almost no mention of dedicated "endgame". Since all servers will develop differently, and experiences will appear at different times depending on that individual servers node development and how players have decided to interact with not only that node but surrounding nodes, what you think of "endgame" is going to be radically different if implemented as envisioned so far. The claims of "we did a speed run of Ice God Fortress #2374" are likely to not hold as much weight towards "competitive" play.
  • @UnknownSystemError I get your point but whether there is a dedicated end game or not, there will be things only higher level players will be able to achieve. Whether its a world boss, dungeon or raid. Even if there are none of those, there is trying to raise your guild into glory. I know its hard for guilds to say what they intend to do as there are a lot of things not known yet, a point one of the guilds made (dark reavers was it?). But having the drive to become a great guild makes a big difference IMO
  • Well, @Baddinaddi, just remember you have an exciting time ahead in finding new friends in the game. You could always choose your guild once you start playing the game and frequenting PvE/PvP with the same people. If you enjoy playing with them, stick them in your friends list - then if you're regular with them, join their guild/form your own with them. There's a whole host of options available to you but that is exciting is it not? Don't fret about it now.

However, if you do want to join a guild pre-launch then I agree that the forums and the guild fair streams are the best to research. Good luck!

  • @kratz yeah thanks XD
  • Yeah i understand you. Hard to choose a guild when there are so freaking many and the thoughts about "what if the guild isn't me and so on". Just remember that choosing a guild you need to jump out and JUST DO IT. Worst case you say, you can't really fit in ;)
  • Find people with the same mindset and goals as you, look for people you mesh well with, look for friends! It's still early and you have plenty of time to find a place to call home!
  • First I think you have to decide what do you like to do? And how much do you like to do it? Do you craft or do you PvP? do you like to craft and PvP? Are you all about exploration and doing PvE dungeons? these are questions only you can answer and until you know what type of player you are you will have a harder time finding others who share your interests.
