Vampires

I have said this before. I hope to see vampire story lines i.e. a small village or town is plagued by vampires and it is up to you venture to the vampires stronghold or castle and defeat him. Think Ravenloft.

  • Vampires in game would be a plus, but would like them not to be cheesy like some thing picture them as... now where did I put me garlic...

    Yeah no sparkling ones
  • Some classic monsters in the game, if implemented in a fun manner, would be cool.

Even though there was mention of zombies, by the devs, not sure if they intend to bring every Transylvanian creeper, into the game, lol.

gods, no.  Not unless you plan on turning off a large portion of your playerbase, imo.  Bleh.
  • Oh noes....

  • Would you be for or against there being a disease you could catch which, if not treated, could lead to the player becoming a vampire, with various buffs and debuffs. I'm not sure myself though.
  • It might be fun to see them in this game. Gliding along with outstretched arms casting some spell on you
  • For EQNext, I was hoping that could be part of one of the ongoing quest lines.
A family we've previously saved from a band of orcs trying to burn down a barn is now dealing with the grandma suffering from a vampire bite. The vampire lair must be destroyed in order to prevent her from turning.

Clerics curing diseases would be nice. Also, requiring multiple Clerics to cure some diseases would be nice.
Potions and herbs as remedies would be nice, too.
  • Against....look how ESO totally screwed the pooch on that one. Don't need a repeat of that in this game. Making a sub-class that was at almost all times a balance breaker, mandatory for pvp survival, and came with its own griefing/exploits built in was one of the things that really screwed that game up.
  • Why would vampires need to be a sub-class?
  • I'm down with vampires. I want them to be terrifying, though. Give me a dark and satisfying vampire questline.
  • I don't see them adding them as one of their archetypes like tank, mage, or so on. The idea posted above was for someone to contract it as a disease which would then give buffs/debuffs. ESO has a system in place currently that since they implemented it caused round after round of exploit/nerf then exploit/nerf, leading to most people as soon as they create a character, porting to the main area and begging for a bite from other people so that they can keep their character "competitive" right from the beginning. So either you make it a purely cosmetic thing that doesn't affect gameplay, or you restrict the benefits to the point that it isn't a mandatory thing to be able to compete in pvp to maintain balance with your other archetypes. One of many examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l5DaT3Yn4g

I was thinking the OP was referring to vamps as a mob, not specifically as a class/sub-class?
  • Still my favorite vampire

I guess I should have quoted this as to what I was responding to. The OP was talking about mobs, I was talking about putting in player vampires as a bad idea.

Buffs and debuffs apply to the player character as afflictions; not as archetype abilities - I think.

    Love it!!!
  • How about a vampire racial skin?
  • Interesting idea, but kinda weird to have all player character vampires looking exactly the same.
  • All I have to say is....  vampires are alive!

Not sure what I just witnessed...but, it was still better than Twilight.
  • A thread about HIS race and no @nagash? Must be too busy torturing someone or scheming to take over the world. >:)
  • I kind of hope at some point through story/questing you can somehow gain some pseudo advanced class like vampire, werewolves, etc.  I think it would be awesome to have things like that to work towards long term.
  • Dunno. But, seems like it would clash with the lore of corruption.
  • I think having Vampires and Werewolves would be pretty fun in the world, if done right

Hypothetically/theoretically could make it a part of the risk/reward "consequences" aspect of the game.
  • I personally can't imagine it in Ashes - I mean it s high fantasy so it is possible - I can see werewolves being more likely - I dunno why I can't visualise vampires in it xD
  • vampire and werewolf could be mods to moves hopefully they do others like ghouls and so on

Right. But, probably better to have an Ashes corruption appearance/twist rather than traditional vampires/werewolf.
If we didn't have Tulnar, it would seem more fitting.

Dunno for sure what the devs' perspectives are, tho'.
