Taming Monsters/ Mounts

Hey guys,
i was thinking about the option of taming mounts.
If i think about some common monsters to tame or some very special ones (like dragons).
Maybe you have to find some special food and so on to have a chance for the mounts and so on.
What opinions do you have on that?
I really hope they will do that at Ashes of Creation too, would be very awesome!

  • Well dragon mounts are confirmed in the game but only for a select few people, mostly Node leaders with very limited world drops.

I think it would be cool to capture and take some mobs, but I don't think dragons should be one of them simply because it diminishes the value and "wow" factor of the people who get them in the current system and the limited flying mounts in this game.

Too bad though, there's a good documentary about how to go about taming a dragon. I've seen it and it made it appear quite do-able.
  • Hi there!

Well taming of mounts and animals has already been confirmed to be a system and so has breeding. Will be very interesting to actually hear more about the animal husbandry system, which is what it's called.
As far as I understand, epic "flying" mounts such as dragons are not tameable/breedable. These will be available only to people in the highest positions in the nodes, like kings and queens and such. Think it was mentioned somewhere that an extremely rare drop from big bosses would be a gliding/flying-like mount on a timer, so it will expire and disappear.
In a live-stream it was mentioned that food will have some kind of effect when it comes to taming/breeding. Will be interesting to see exactly what effect this will be. Speed of progression within the profession perhaps? Or maybe some food will make it more likely that you can tame certain animals, like you mentioned.

I look forward to this system mechanic!
  • I too am looking forward to this and or breeding.  I imagine they would go hand in hand maybe.

Most likely. I would assume anyway.

Another smaller detail that I have finally gotten an answer to, after several attempts at the Q&A's, we will actually be able to raise the animals when they are born from breeding! (Source in attachment below). Now this potentially opens up even more possibilities in terms of how the animal will turn out when grown up. Maybe it'll have different stats when grown up depending on how it's raised? Many interesting possibilities here....

Confirmed that they do go hand in hand.

I like the idea of catching mounts. Maybe I can catch a long lost, wandering dwarf-tame them and ride them around as a mount. I bet I could set a trap with some good ale.
  • I really enjoyed the taming / breeding system in Ark Survival.  I hope they take some of those ideas and apply them to AoC.  Very indepth on how taming works, via Darts and narcotics to knocking out aggressive dinos, then feeding them their favorite foods.  (with also just the passive taming off only feeding them).  Then you mate them together and you get the babies you have to take care of up through juvinelle to adulthood.  With varying times for gestation and growth and mating cooldowns.

How is that gonna work? You're normally a dwarf yourself?

I love the idea of taming and breeding mounts. Can't wait to see how they implement it
  • Hey! A dwarf can ride a dwarf mount! I think? Okay, nm. Maybe not. Though, I am anxious to see what they do. CoE has plans to make you have to feed and water your mounts or else they die. I am wondering if something to that effect will be implemented as well.
  • This system sounds really cool and I am definitely interested in finding out more about it.

Nice!  I missed that one. Or the old mind just couldn't retrieve the info!
    Thanks.   :)
