Does the server trust the client?

[Move to somewhere technical if more appropriate]
Does the server trust the client, or does it validate player actions before acting on them?

Are there any MMOs that do not trust clients? If so, how do they perform and behave compared to those that do?
(This is a grudge I have against WoW and similar MMOs - do not trust the client: Clients lie. Just ask Doctor House.)

SWTOR does a great job of not trusting the client, and verifies everything.  There are also some baked in systems in that mmo that give the devs tons of data analytics into every action you take. I hope intrepid does the same.

    Trust no one.

Yep... most MMOs nowadays don't trust the client with anything. I think IS are taking this lack of trust a step further with algorithms that check player behavior patterns for signs of cheating and fraud etc.
