Running out of time?

It seems the summer sale is running out of time, and no word on upgrades. Issues unforeseen I am sure but... not a peep? I was hoping to get some of the stretch goals knocked out, looks like we will get the first one, but that's about it. I seriously wanted the fireworks.... oh well. The last minute rally will only happen if there is time enough... and we are quickly losing it.

I am not 100% sure it was a good idea to launch the sale without having all aspects of it ready. Extending it would seem to be the only way. Not sure how happy people will be with that. Not sure how I feel about that. Just hoping to hear something soon'ish.

  • DID I HEAR ...NOT A BEEP?
  • Since the whole point of the Summer backing period was to alleviate concerns that the "70 percent of our playerbase that lives overseas that couldn't pledge KS due to payment options" has been achieved I think it has been a rousing success. The point was not to add infinite rounds of crowdfunding, or allowing people to pick and choose from a plethora of new goodies. They will open it up for KS backers to upgrade their pledges when they work out the kinks in the system. I would rather have that, than another vaporware boost in pledge numbers due to KS backers just activating their accounts. What if every time I select something a la carte it counts as yet another backing? Say there are 10 items I want to pick and choose from. If I buy them one at a time, does the counter go up 10 times? These are all things they are probably looking at, and once they have them fixed, they will allow KS backers to upgrade their pledges. And while it will be a boost to the numbers, don't be surprised if that number is far less than you think.
  • Yeah, it's bullshit.. Those of us who were unable to participate in the Kickstarter are getting penalised with no backer rewards, just cos we didn't have the payment option.. We get nothing in the form of backer rewards.. and everyone else has the nerve to complain about us getting the chance at life time sub..? That's all we got..
  • I think it's fair to say that if Intrepid could go back and do this over differently, they probably would. :)
  • think intrepid messed up a bit on these one
  • I hope they don't extend it. They must have enough money now. I'm not sure what to say about upgrades but they certainly don't need to extend the summertime croundfunding
  • They will hire a new CM within a couple of weeks.
    I'm sure everything will be fine.

    I'm okay with the way the Devs are handling things, and their explanation.  They realized that potential backers overseas encountered problems with the payment options, and recognized that as unfair.  They acknowledged it as a mistake, but it was really just an unexpected problem.

    The Devs took action to correct the problem by providing the Summer Crowdfunding.  And their attempt to do the right thing was rewarded by complaints from a bunch of selfish spoiled little brats who tried so desperately to justify their outrage as something more than just selfishness.  Some even threatened to not play the game if the lifetime subscription was offered to Summer Backers.  Reminds me of those that threatened to leave The U.S. if their presidential candidate did not win the election.  Empty threats, none of them moved.

    If the Devs were somehow taking away the lifetime subscription from KS Backers and giving it to the Summer Backers, (Sort of like a redistribution of wealth thing), I would be right there pointing out how wrong that is.  But that's not what's happening.  KS Backers are losing nothing.  Not to mention, this is just a game they are getting so bent out of shape over.

    I know that many situations are controversial, and various opinions should be considered.  And people can make little nitpicky arguments about principal, but that's pretty clearly an attempt to justify their complaints as something other than selfishness.  They don't want anyone else to have what they have.

    It's like a child whose parents have promised him or her they will go to Six Flags this Saturday, and then something unexpected happens like a death in the family.  When told that the Six Flags trip is not going to happen that Saturday, the selfish brat complains and responds, "But you promised!"  So really, grow up kids.

    I know this topic has been discussed at length, and everyone is free to their opinions.  I've listened repeatedly to the insincere argument of those on the other side of this, and I'm done listening to it.   So when you decide to criticize or even demonize anyone who happens to fall on the same side of this argument that I do, remember this;

    The developers of this game (The whole reason you are here) decided this was the right thing to do.  That should give you a clue as to which side of this thing they are on.

  • Oh yeah, if any of you crybabies out there want to criticize any of the points I made, or the way in which I made them, don't expect a response because you don't deserve one.  Grow up, toughen up, or go to your safe space snowflakes.

    @Mazikar
    Flameh0t is referring to the Summer backer rewards.
    Probably won't reach numbers without KS backers being able to upgrade.
    Which we haven't been able to do for about half of the Summer campaign.

    We'll have to see how quickly the numbers rack up once KS members are able to upgrade.
  • Its been over a week now.

    The June backers are supposed to be 70% of the people who follow Ashes and only 30% backed the KS so, wouldn't it be the fault of that 70% not backing the June program and meeting those backer goals? :P

    yeah, were are all these supposed backers at?
  • Steven didn't say that June backers would be 70% of the people who follow Ashes.
    And, Steven didn't think that 70% of the June backers would be 70% of the people who follow Ashes.
    If he did think that, the goals for the June backer rewards would not be so much lower than the KS rewards.

    "this decision was made with the knowledge that over 70% of our members come from outside of the Kickstarter-friendly parts of the World."
    That is what he said word for word, aren't members also followers of Ashes? lol, so not making June backer goals is mostly the June backers fault in that case and not interpid.

    @Eragale
    8K - 9K was a glitch.

    @serious
    Yep. That is what he said word for word - and that does not say that June backers will be 70% of the members.

    The fault of not hitting the June backer goals is probably going to be IS - if they don't link the KS upgrades in time.
