Not sure if its released yet or if its still in the works or whatnot... but would like some info on classes and races and whatnot also... If you buy the 25$ pack do you get to play after? lots of unanswered questions

  • The game will be in alpha testing latter this year. The game full release is still a couple years off.
  • 2019 at the earliest, unless you buy a pack to get into the Alpha/Beta to test.
  • While you wait, I highly suggest Neopets or Habbo Hotel! You don't be let down, trust me.
  • Plus, at this time, this MMO is planned & expected to be a P2P / Subscription Model. No information have been hinted of it being a B2P.
  • Currently the game is planned to be released "prior to 2020" phase 1 alpha is planned for December 2018 with the phase 2 + beta's following that. however you may win a key through the weekly raffles for access to the invite only "alpha 0" that is planned for Q4 2017 more information regarding the raffles can be found here https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/6085/information-regarding-weekly-key-drawings/p1

They have stated already that this game will not have a purchase fee, so it will not be B2P, but it will be P2P. So you can download for free, but you'll have to pay 14.95 (or whatever it may be) to actually enjoy the game.

I'll be in the minority here, but I wish Intrepid would initially launch with the game having to be purchased.  It would do two important things.  First it would give them a lot of upfront profit, and second it would give the players the impression that they are paying for something of worth.  Value is a very subjective thing, and the psychology behind it tends to make people attach value to a higher price.  After a year they could transition to free if they wanted to.  I understand that they are wanting to lower the barrier for entry, but sometimes free hurts more than it helps.

Yes, subscription model, no box cost.

Many games have set the bar of being P2P rather than B2P. I'm pleased as it does exactly what you state -- lowers the barrier for entry. Over time, happy players paying subs wins out over lots of players buying a box, then wandering away because it's not what they wanted it to be.

Next year (2018) not this year.
