AoC Franchise

I've been re watching streams and was listening more carefully to the franchise discussion between Deathproxy and Steven.

Steven’s opinion

“This story that we are bringing to life with Ashes of Creation, is a very in depth one, it has a lot of different aspects to it, and I personally, you know when diving into making Intrepid Studios, and bringing Ashes of Creation to life with this amazing team here, I knew from the get go, this was going to be a franchise, I knew that this IP that we are creating with Ashes of Creation is going to be revealed in many different ways and will have a lot of different components that people can just eat up, and I want to do that with a lot of different aspects, not just Ashes of Creation, but it's important to note that Ashes of Creation is the flagship, the dedicated ride, this is what we are bringing to the market to represent the story that will have a greater franchise and you’re going to see an amazing mmorpg out of our story. “

JEFFERY adds “And then once that happens we move onto our other products we’re considering and discussing in the studio already that “There is parts of the story that we can’t really tell in the mmo. There is timelines that are occurring in multiple different places that we want to focus on and we want to be able to tell BUT WE CAN’T JUST TELL IN THIS ONE GAME~

STEVEN : “And there are Heros and Villains we want to focus on but can not necessarily be told in the mmorpg”

So what type of other games do you think we will see? Would you play other Intrepid games if they were not an mmorpg? Would you be a streamer of these games?

What ya all think ^^

  • ill stream all the way, and if Intrepid delivers ill be a loyal fan thru thick and thin . another great post Diura <3

    Poem of Ashenguard
  • I agree with Poem I would definitely stream all of that. If they deliver on Ashes of Creation I would love to see what else they will do. XD I bet you could do a good old fashioned RPG to cover some of the subjects or even an adventure game for a more personal story. All kinds of things they can do!
  • You will definitely see a tabletop version down the line, books, possibly tactical, strategy, node based game ala Starcraft. Like they said, many, many possible things out there if it is the success it looks to become if the vision is realized.
  • I expect the Ashes lore to be huge, so a book series would seem pretty key to the franchise.
    • Game set on the original world... Maybe a survival horror or interactive movie game.
    • Game centered around the Tulnar... Possibly a MOBA, tabletop or CCG.
    • Game set on the non-magical planet... RTS, FPS, or survival type game.
And of course a few years down the track... Ashes the movie starring the heroic mage Lexmax!

omg a game set in the non-magic world would be so epic aha
  • Smells like Warcraft... Damn... Arthas and dem feels...
ANYWAY, we know nothing about the game's heroes and villains. And I don't think they will have too much of an impact at the beginning.
Thus, they'll have plenty of time to think this through and develop what they need to or write some books about the past of the world we're all so eager to step in.
  • I just want them to concentrate on Ashes of creation
  • I wouldn't mind them hiring some app developers to make a really cool mobile game, that ties into the offline activities of AoC

    No thanks.

The next step after that is usually micro-transactions for P2W.

Hey, who knows, maybe down the line we even see some adult movie "Lashes of Felation".

     :p

On the serious side, yeah the books, likely digital since this is modern age, but with some amount of "paper" collector editions available.

Perhaps some other games of different genres, I'd place here a classic offline single player RPG, then perhaps even some adventure or puzzle games, maybe something else.

The ultimate addition would come in form of TV series (many seasons to come) that we would become ultimate fans of, have special greeting and everything. ;)
  • I would like books, books are cool, often give some RP ideas. I would also love lorebooks in-game. Sort of like how the Elder Scrolls does it.

I don't think considering future possibilities denies current concentration levels

If Ashes of Creation awesome lore I would be very willing to play other games based of the lore to delve deeper into some of the character's story. As long as the game is made well.
  • I think the focus on the current mmorpg is certain as any future projects have a single factor that will determine their production.  The success of the original mmorpg.  I would take future offerings on a case by case basis.  But I would likely support some if not all of any additional projects that add to the franchise.
  • I think books to tell some of the side stories will be the most likely thing we'll see after Ashes of Creation.  In fact, it wouldn't surprise me to see a book pre-release as a lead-in to the game's launch.  That's something other games have done in the past.  WoW has done it several times.  Guild Wars 2 did it as well.
  • As long as their isn't a node with Panda's. Screw Pandas.
  • My favorite MMORPG is KOA: Reckoning.
    It's sole flaw is that it's single-player only.  ;)

Back in the day, I enjoyed playing Champions of Norrath - both releases.
I'm all about story, so I might be interested in playing through a single-player RPG steeped in Ashes lore.

I would not play an FPS or MOBA.
I don't think I would play a card game like Legends of Norrath.
I might play a board game similar to Talisman.

I would almost definitely play an Ashes version of Fortnite.

Pandas are awesome... As long as they don't start time traveling to another dimension so that it's not really time traveling.
