Siege question

So i have a question about possible sieges, lets set up the scenario Metro A Scientific is getting attacked by Village B Economic and this directly involves them as well, question is because Village B is a economic one and possibly has a huge coin purse can they say talk to Metro C military and trade coin for bodies or do that to a guild in a neighboring Node...essentially the ability to buy mercs from them.

If you have loads of cash you can pay directly to players to come and fight for you.

    More sandbox, less forced mechanics.
Also since it's players who would rent you their time (bodies) it's them that should get the coin, no? Otherwise they will not care about your cause.

Possible but in a node not the one your in will you know who is worth what amount of cash meanwhile paying a metro can give the metro more money to build additions and contribute to its node wide bonuses.

There are a variety of ways to hire mercs... PC mercs and NPC mercs.
People who want to maintain the fast travel network may indeed wish to support the cause of the defenders while those who wish to destroy the ftn may wish to support the cause of the attackers - regardless of payment.

Anyone one one the server can participate in the siege.
Citizens of the defending node will be auto-flagged as defenders rather than attackers.

I just want to add that sieging a node requires an equal amount of resources to what it took to develop the node, based on that fact alone, sieging a metro will likely require a significant fraction of the server's population (~20%?) to fund the siege, and this is even before you start hiring mercenaries. I'm not saying mercs won't be a thing, but sieging a metro is going to be very tough and if not done right the attackers stand to lose everything.

Also, as @Dygz said, many nodes and guilds may jump to the defence of a scientific metro to preserve the ZOI's fast travel network, unless there are duplicate science metros on the server.

I personally love sieges in games.  Siege engines, the tactics, working with others to take over a castle or stronghold....   I hope in between the node system sieges.  There can be some sort of BG, so some folks can practice, or even participate in some sort of siege so folks can learn some of the siege mechanics and practice how to work well with others, learn some tactics and make alliances that can make or break a siege.

Also, could maybe have a lot of fun with said BG of sieges, can even have special weekends for them to take place... probably should write up an idea and send it in for them to take into consideration...

@mcg55ss your question inspired me to gather together a bunch of known information on sieges and post it here:

I hope we can throw diseased cows over the walls of castles.
