If you could take one element from any game what would it be?

If there was one particular thing about an MMO or even just games in general that you wish AoC would have in it what would it be? Even just an idea that you had that you think the world (or me) needs to hear about?

I always thought that it would be incredible to be able to customise your armour as much as you could customise your character... Battle scars, trophies from fallen enemies and even something like a piece of cloth which seems like nothing but has a long story behind it. Almost similar to the car customisation in Forza etc... Would have to earn things that are more exotic, doing challenges, exploring, slaying some specific rare monster with a low spawn chance.

I know this might not be practical and difficult to implement however it would make Roleplaying more realistic and would make your armour look like your own specific set.

Also a sidenote I always thought having the ability to use any weapon to be invaluable, similar to ESO where you would not be as adept with a certain weapon but you still had the option to be an archer for a day if your battle-axe gets too heavy!

Anyway sorry for the long rant just curious to see what other ideas people have!

    The necro from DAoC :)
I know its not an element as such but it is by far the most fun character i have played in any game... ever.
  • @Duninn the fishing in final fantasy does look really fun to be fair!
    @velish never played that ;-;
  • The music from Zelda
  • From ArcheAge: freedom to use whatever utility item (gliders, mounts, vehicles, etc.) I have accumulated in almost every parts and aspect of gameplay (PvE, PVP, Chillin)
  • The ability to kick a dead body.
That was so much fun :D specially in mass PvP battles.
  • I'd take the combat system for everquest 2 because I loved the simplicity of it. Even if the game was lagging it worked.
  • @Relwoh What we need is some advanced combat like what Runescape had to offer...
  • Warhammer online's Realm vs Realm pvp
    good times....
  • People will probably hate me for this. I'd want the raiding from WoW. It's the only thing I sort of miss from that game. It had top notch raiding later on, with complex fights and great dungeons. Though I wouldn't miss the loot table, so leave that one out, and do what you've already talked about.

Yes I loved those, also liked their battlegrounds and the open pvp stuff.

yeah, i haven't seen anything like their battlegrounds since, they were fun :)
  • Heavy group combat mechanics involved in dungeon or open world boss fights. From games like Rift and Destiny. Makes you really feel like you earned that boss kill.

Not sure what game this may be from; It's probably from some game out there. But what I've always wanted from an MMO is a very intensive skill system. I like the how AoC is going with a dual/merge class system which seems to affect how your end game skills work. But I would like to see even branching on top of that. Making your skills something that will take a while to gain and master and by the end of it all making many players unique compared to the others. Skills would have their own EXP requirements and need to be leveled. Upon maxing a skill, it will make it more powerful, unlocking bonus maxed/mastery effects for the skill itself but also having 2-3 branch skills from that maxed skill which you may choose to unlock, level and max out. But, you may only choose one of the 2-3. From the skill you choose will lead towards another branch of skills upon mastery. This would make it so more people in the world be different and also make it worth re-creating the same class but with different skills for a different play style.

I also liked how in ESO, maining 2 weapons was a thing. I think this could also play off of creating more uniqueness within the skills. For example:
If you have a simple Charge skill, this skill may act differently with each weapon. Let's say you have 2 weapons equipped: Dual Daggers and a Hammer.
Using Charge with Dual Daggers equipped may cause this skill to propel the user through the target dealing damage to enemies in a line.
Though, using Charge with a Hammer may cause this skill to propel the user to the target to deal damage and knock them down.

Old school  but good  school ;)

  • Tera - World, it was gorgeous.

    Need a gorgeous world.
  • I would like an improved diplomacy system like out of Vanguard Saga of Heroes. t would go great with the political system for the game.
  • total darkness from the black desert beta.

    Crafting minigame from EQ2
Weather effects like rain affecting the ground from Black Desert Online
  • The AI that was planned for EQ-Next.

Crafting spells (Like Oblivion, but expand on it)
  • I liked how in Rift, when the rifts opened, you would be auto invited to groups/raids. (you could always decline of course and form your own private party.) I don't know how common world and node events will be, but it was nice for small groups and solo players to find each other.  I was always a healer/support, so it made it easier to see where I was needed most and rewards were based on your contribution.
    1. BDO - Combat
    2. ArcheAge - Naval Warfare and Economics
    3. Lineage 2 - Castles / Seiges
    4. Lotro - Depth of story line and value of "boss loot" gear
  • EQ or DAoC: Support skill classes. CCers, Debuffer, Buffers
  • WvW from Guild Wars 2
  • -I liked the dual weapon system in ESO. I would DoT with my bow, then switch to dual daggers for burst dps.
-Make gathering and crafting interesting. Maybe have skills and rotations that give different stats on the item you are crafting.
-I like FFXIV's leveling system. (except all the solo stuff) They just had a lot of options. Quests, Fates, Leves, Roulettes, and stuff like that.
-I like World of Warcraft's raids and the transmog system.
-I liked Ultima Online's freedom to do whatever you wanted.

If I had to take one thing and incorporate it into AoC it would have to be WoW's Transmog system. They did it right in Legion and I like that kind of stuff.
  • Transmog would be a really really good thing to add to it @tylerr385
  • The answer should be obvious imo, BDO's combat system/mechanics. Even though it might be a bit too hack & slashy, perhaps Smite or Paragon would be suited better.
  • DAoC's Realm Ranks. Basically PvP levels that gave points that could be spent on skills to help in RvR. Plus a sweet title to let people know how far up the ladder you were.
  • bring back crowd control.  like wow had in the tbc.
  • abyssal space like texture would be cool.
