Nodes & Sieges

Can a node be took at any given moment or is it only going to be able to be took once a week, once a month, once every 6 months ect.?

Depending on the node size, a node will require many days or even weeks of preparation to take. Once all of the resources and alliances have been organized, the actual combat period of a node siege is around two hours.

The developers have specifically said that the effort to siege and bring down a node will be equivalent to building it up. It will also depend on the node level on how long advanced notice you get before the siege starts. I believe the example given was the defenders will have a week to get ready on high level nodes. I am sure @Dygz will be along with the specific stream and quotes. But hope that helps give you an idea. It will take a lot of effort from the sound of it.

Edit:  Looks like @lexmax beat @dygz this time.  :D

Thank you for your comment  Lexmax. Will the citizens of the nodes be given a heads up that the node is under attack if so how much of a heads up?

Yes, the citizens of a node are given between 2 and 5 days notice depending on the size of the node.

I've summarized all of the developer quotes about sieges in an info post, if you need additional background :)

Like @Sintu said @Dygz should be along to link quotes. But basically the farther along in development the longer it takes to call a siege. An example given was something like 5 days for a level 5 node declaration, 5 hours of actual siege, followed by a 10x cd before it could be sieged again. So 50 days to restock and rebuild.

    Nice that actually sounds great

I think the only thing missing from lexmarx's excellent summary link is the detail that a successful siege means the node will de-level one stage.

Also, if the node de-levels below Stage 3, your freehold/housing will be "destroyed" because Stage 3 is the stage where housing becomes available.

Stage 3 and above, you have a 1-2 hour window to try to defend your freehold (w/ friends/allies or hired NPCs).

I will add this too - you're freehold is "destroyed" but Devs have also mentioned they may add a system that saves a "template" of the layout of your freehold - so although it's lost your still have the plans for its visuals ^^ ->  I believe you need to buy new "blueprints" though which can be purchased from various npc within the node , but RIP npc if your node was deleveled from stage 3 ^^ Got to help the node back up to stage 3 :3 or abandon node and find a home elsewhere xD

Yeah. The freehold gets "destroyed" - in quotes because we will still have a template that we can place elsewhere. The template part has already been decided.
And we will be able to rebuild at a lesser cost resource-wise than the 1st time.
If you have a template, you won't need a blueprint.
We just have to make sure we have the resources required to build the template.

The part that's still being discussed is having the template also retain the decoration layout so that we don't have to re-decorate when we relocate the freehold.

All information taken from the aocwiki which have links to most Q&A's, interviews and statements.

    • Sieges are declared directly by players.
    • When a siege begins, there is a temporary alliance among attackers and defenders.
    • During the declaration period, individuals or even guilds can register to attack.
    • Anyone who completes the prerequisites for the siege initiation can declare the siege.
    • Siege declaration is very tough and scales with the type of node being sieged.
    • Castle sieges are intended for guilds.
    • Once a siege is declared there is a period of time before the siege will commence, determined by the size of the node.
      • 2 Days - Village
      • 3 Days - Town
      • 4 Days - City
      • 5 Days - Metro
    • A siege will last for up to two hours, after which, if the city survives, there will be a cooldown before the node can be sieged again.
      • 20 Days - Village
      • 30 Days - Town
      • 40 Days - City
      • 50 Days - Metro
    • Certain mechanics might be gated for specific size groups during sieges.
    • Housing will only be vulnerable if the parent node falls in a siege.
    • Sieging will require a similar amount of resources and time, to equal what it took to develop the node.
    • Siege equipment will need to be crafted.
    • Certain siege equipment will be available based on the stage of the defending node.
    • Governments will be able to allocate resources, taxes, and quests to help develop the defenses of the node.
    • Certain NPC's will serve as defense points for the node, Killing them will allow the attackers to gain advantages during the siege.
    • NPC's are only killable during a siege, and will respawn if the siege is unsuccessful.
    • Nodes require continued player activity and if a town loses too much activity, then it may result in a PvE siege against the node.
    • A successful siege will delevel or destroy the node.

    Hope this answers any questions.
