Images not allowed

In my preferences > signature setting is says "images not allowed"
How come?
I am also unable to add a picture to a forum reply. 
Is it me being incompetent or are the two linked = I am not allowed to post pictures?

I did a search but the search function is only present in name but does not really work either. Oh well, there is time till the game starts

They are also working on the search function. It's early days as you say

Think of this as the Alpha 1 of the Forums, as we've already had the Alpha 0.  It's the sort of thing Alpha players will experience when that begins.

Bump! still doesn't work, are they still working on it or abandoned this until later?

It's still on the list! Intrepid have been hard at work on getting Alpha 0 out by the 15th. I expect focus to return to other activities after that
