Sitting at work with nothing to do, so my mind
wanders over to this game. I really like the idea of animal husbandry
and having to buy fresh mounts over a period of time. Then it hit me.
Carriages! Why wouldn't we have something like that?
carriages can be 2-4 player mounts. You could have someone build the actual carriages and you would breed/ buy the mounts required to carry the wooden box+ players.
anyone else think this is awesome/ any comments on the subject?

i think carriages would be nice - we have mules for transporting goods and the caravan system but I'd actually like to see carriages as just "multi mount" features. Then you can taxi me from A to B (for free please :P). Then again though the concept arts for some of the mounts are crazy and come in all shapes and sizes so you'd need some wierd caravans for some mounts xD so sadly I think it will be impossible aha
Something like this could become a multi-profession project, too!
Carpenter for the wooden carriage and wheels, smithy for metal wheel tires and other securing hardware, leather worker for reins and straps to attach to the mounts, and animal taming/husbandry for matching pairs of mounts
Now that song is stuck in my head...
"Where have aaall the buttons goooooOOOOOOOne?"
But seriously...WHO BROKE IT?!? I didn't touch anything....
Help us! We like our buttons @Yaviey
This.
One of you broke this!
@Yaviey As you can see, we simply are not ready to have nice things yet....
Anyway, this brings up a point I'm not sure I understand about the caravan system.
It has been confirmed that caravans are player initiated....If that's the case, what's the defining characteristic of a caravan vs. a "player with a wagon"?
I imagine it has to do with the node level and contribution, so that a certain number of guards/escorts with a certain level of ability travel with the caravan to it's destination? Maybe it's also hooked into some sort of scouting system so players with certain standings in organizations might know details about the caravan, etc.
In any case, I don't think that precludes players from also having their own wagons to transport goods as well. This would allow custom wagons for various tastes, just like there will be different ships with customization. These personal wagons would just be devoid of "node security" as it were.
I just like the idea of different carts and wagons and customization options. Heck, if caravans are player initiated, why not allow it to use the player's wagon? That would include any of the benefits or upgrades the player made to the wagon.
To be honest I'm not overly enamored with the caravan system as with what we know right now at least, it feels a little canned and contrived. I'm a big merchant and trader player and I think I'd rather see more of that it my own control (including carriage protection etc!)
Anyway, maybe both can exist!
Traders!
Well I read that the huge sig is a bug and that they would be fixed. So I'm waiting for my fix.
I love this idea! Our guild would have a FIELD day (see what I did there, lol? FIELD TRIP!) with this!
