Carriages

@Kesarakk writes:

Sitting at work with nothing to do, so my mind wanders over to this game. I really like the idea of animal husbandry and having to buy fresh mounts over a period of time. Then it hit me. Carriages! Why wouldn't we have something like that?

carriages can be 2-4 player mounts. You could have someone build the actual carriages and you would breed/ buy the mounts required to carry the wooden box+ players.

anyone else think this is awesome/ any comments on the subject?

Yes I like that idea. so long as the carriages dont transport goods.  Wouldnt want the caravan system being circumnavigated.

Would be aweseom, but as @PJ_Rydecker said it cant be like caravans, so no goods only people :)
  • Options
That would be awesome!  No goods though as noted.

This is what I'm like in my work too xD we need more thought provoking jobs aha
i think carriages would be nice - we have mules for transporting goods and the caravan system but I'd actually like to see carriages as just "multi mount" features. Then you can taxi me from A to B (for free please :P). Then again though the concept arts for some of the mounts are crazy and come in all shapes and sizes so you'd need some wierd caravans for some mounts xD so sadly I think it will be impossible aha

I loved my wagon in BDO and having a public carriage was nice in AA, it would be so much fun to have a carriage/wagon that could also carry other people like a mount.

    Love it!
Something like this could become a multi-profession project, too!
Carpenter for the wooden carriage and wheels, smithy for metal wheel tires and other securing hardware, leather worker for reins and straps to attach to the mounts, and animal taming/husbandry for matching pairs of mounts

I would really love to see wagons with like 6 mounts pulling it .. may even be able to hold some materials that you have farmed to get back to the freehold or the market.

I agree, it would be cool, but when everyone have faster mounts and the only purpose for these are transportation.. who would really use it?

There will be, kickstarter goal had group mounts.

I thought it was already said there would be player wagons and stuff...? I might be wrong.

Anyway, this brings up a point I'm not sure I understand about the caravan system.

It has been confirmed that caravans are player initiated....If that's the case, what's the defining characteristic of a caravan vs. a "player with a wagon"?

I imagine it has to do with the node level and contribution, so that a certain number of guards/escorts with a certain level of ability travel with the caravan to it's destination? Maybe it's also hooked into some sort of scouting system so players with certain standings in organizations might know details about the caravan, etc.

In any case, I don't think that precludes players from also having their own wagons to transport goods as well. This would allow custom wagons for various tastes, just like there will be different ships with customization. These personal wagons would just be devoid of "node security" as it were.

I just like the idea of different carts and wagons and customization options. Heck, if caravans are player initiated, why not allow it to use the player's wagon? That would include any of the benefits or upgrades the player made to the wagon.

To be honest I'm not overly enamored with the caravan system as with what we know right now at least, it feels a little canned and contrived. I'm a big merchant and trader player and I think I'd rather see more of that it my own control (including carriage protection etc!)

    Anyway, maybe both can exist!

What about royal carriages for guild leaders or high-ranking players in a node

Well I read that the huge sig is a bug and that they would be fixed.  So I'm waiting for my fix.  :p

I don't think they need them, considering those playing will be able to use flying mounts, but I do like the idea. What if there were special, royal, carriages that guilds could unlock once reaching a certain level/favor meter with a Node. So when other players see these carriages, they know that they are part of a successful guild ((Almost said big guild, but I think successful is more accurate.))

Ah for a lazy afternoon ride in the country side.  Who would dare attempt to attack my horse and buggy?

I think carriages for a group would be a nice way to keep the group together as you traveled to a destination to do some raiding or whatever.

A number of people: Those who want to have a taxi system: Pay x currency for a ride to X location or node, people whom's friends have just joined the game and they take them on a tour, players who have said lazy friends and like to go afk during a ride, and of course it's a way to show off your own wealth, because you have to buy several mounts ((Anywhere from 2-6)) and hire a crafter to create one for you and for all we know, that can get pricey, especially if you look at past MMOs and the AH/vendor prices for two person/group mounts.

You need to complete the crafting buttons quest first if you want buttons.

@Lethality The main difference between caravans and a personal wagon would be that the caravans have a mechanic to insight meaningful conflict.  The caravans emite a mobile field that gives any player in that area the opertunity to join in the defence or attack of the caravan the owner of the caravan is automatically flagged for pvp and anyone that accepts the call to defend or attack are also auto flagged for pvp.  The caravans also have the facility to be defended by npcs to aid the caravan owner.  This system is currently the only way to move large amounts of goods from point A to point B.  Now I would be all for personal wagons being allowed to move goods if the same pvp mechanics could be woven into them. However I doubt that will hapen.
