So I saw the new video...
The buildings and world looks amazing.
But well, I'm not disappointed, just as expected, the combat is 100% garbage. There nothing else that one can give as feedback, it needs a complete redesign.
The best would be if they would change the one who design the combat, cause from the looks, he clearly have no clue about how to design one.
Just think about a little. Hardcore players modify their keyboard settings to make abilities fired right at the key press and not on the release. It only spares a few ms, but time is that important.
And yet they design a system which holds up your abilities for a random time, lel...
I already see the guides: "If the combo zone is above 50% of cast, fire the ability instantly, else wait until it hits the bar." Such nice design...
Let me give a world of wisdom: Usually the simpler is better.
Many MMO maker company tried to reinvent the wheel... So far noone got not even close to the wow's success, despite their effort in make more and more **** unique combat systems.
Also it's not even the only problem here. They only showed a few abilities, but even now, it's clearly visible, that there will be either heavy balance issues or mobility creep...
And just to note, the female hero looks so ugly, that it amazes me. Smashing the random on the character creation screen would make better result in most other mmo. If i remember correctly metin2 had character like that, but that's not quality...

Yes, the combat is not fleshed out and their combat system is different than all the other MMOs, but why not try something new? What's the worst that could happen, lose a 1000 people who never tried the game, but watched what was being live streamed? After Pax I highly doubt they'll lose people, in fact they'll gain more. Steven did say he wanted to know how the combat felt to everyone.
All I ask is that you give Steven and the team some time. Wait until more people try the game and then if Intrepid aren't changing a thing make a topic about it and tell how others don't like it either.
I'm not trying to attack you about what you saw in the game so far. It just seems like that from your post that you're very hostile towards a company that's trying.
I dont like (Pre Alpha) Combat, scrap everything its garbage!!
Make us hardcore-guys happy!
