Will the Node System allow for anarcho-primitivist style play?

Will there be a way to degrade civilizations back to their primitive states? Will there be rewards for winning the war against "progress?" I think I'd be really interested in being in a guild who fights back the sprawl, but if it's just a gimpy meme idea and not rewarded I might not even wanna try this game. :P

  • Welcome to the community @NightyNightfall
  • Welcome to the community. I hope you have fun on the forums.
  • Welcome,

If I am not mistaken when a settlement comes under Siege it can be knocked into a lower tier. That being said I have not seen or heard of any evidence where there will be a sliding scale of bonuses.

The predominance of positive perks are in upgrading settlements. That being said the concept you are talking about is an interesting one. Perhaps something akin to bonuses on gathering the lower the Node's settlement is to represent untapped resources. Though due to the way the leadership of settlements work it is unlikely that there would be a reliable way to cap or stunt settlement growth so you may have to go through expensive and high investment Sieges to knock down your own settlement.
  • Welcome, those will deffintly be there ;)
  • Welcome
I do say that one thing is when you siege a city, lets say its a metropolis and you succeed in bringing it down, this means that now you got the chance to make your own city turn into a metropolis, since i think it was only 1 metropolis per region so theres gonna be alot of fighting for that i assume!
Everyone wants to have the metropolis and be the biggest and of most influence!
  • Welcome to the Ashes Community!

As a node develops new content becomes available such as dungeons.  Also the progression of adjacent nodes comes to a stop.  In order to build the node next to them or open new content the first node must be degraded.
