We know what the rules of Verra are.
The best you could really hope for is that there are nodes on flying islands that players could level up to villages, towns or cities.
Even the Tulnar won't have cities...until players build them.
It wouldn't make sense for there not to be Tulnar towns though. They have been down there for a really really long time. They must have built something down there.
  • I would be against NPC's with flying mounts, hot air balloons in general, fast travel, etc. just for the sake of entering a cloud environment. To me that would be like IS saying "we didn't want any of these things in our game but we need them for the game."

*I know certain players will have access to flying mounts and scientific nodes could have fast travel. If these methods allowed travel to a cloud environment I would be totally cool with it. Since IS said those things will most likely happen...

So far the most reasonable suggestion imo is the beanstalk. Anyone could grow one, everyone could use it, and anyone could chop it down. In this case I would prefer the cloud environments to not be stationary but have predictable, repeating, paths.

I could go either way on a cloud expansion though.
  • Yeah, it's very possible that it won't happen just because of the whole flying mount thing. I just brought it up for the fun of speculation :)
  • Also to bring up Intrepids vision, if I understood them correctly so far. They are a team of experienced MMO veterans that want to bring the best of the MMORPG world along with their own ideas to make MMOs great again.

I have yet to hear about a game that was praised for it's sky content (exclusion sci-fi MMOs).
Wasn't Riders of Icarus a huge fail?

What is Rider of Icarus?  ;)
You are right. I wouldn't want this to be released in the base game, I think Intrepid has enough on their plate already with all the stuff we obtained during the Kickstarter. This is more of an idea of what is possible down the road, possibly as an expansion. My motivation is that I want to know the as much lore as possible and getting to actually see what remains of the Sladebourne's civilization would be amazing.

During the last livestream when Steven and Jeff were talking about the Bird race, they mentioned that the bird race use to live in a city in the sky and only came down after being corrupted. This got me thinking: what if Intrepid made an expansion or something where we got to go up to those abandon cities? Not sure how we would get there, but I think it would be really neat to add a third dimension to the world (surface, underrealm, then the sky cities). The only problem I foresee is that the city would more than likely have been designed with flying in mind (since they were a flying bird race) and only a handful of us will ever have a flying mount. Guess we would have to make use of gliders and portal magic? No clue, but the idea has me stoked.
A little like the Dwemer in ESO - abandoned places for us to explore and delve into some lore. Do the atmosphere and music right and it could be quite eerie.
  • I was pretending I had never heard of it to emphasize how dead it is xD
  • I'm thinking future expansion potential!  On a tangent, nagash were you an undead mage priest of Ptah? in a much earlier game life?(DandD reference).
  • yes. maybe there would be like a teleport somewhere that would teleport you there.
