theory: item degradation/breaking
There needs to be a real solid gold sink as long as gold is flowing into the world via monster kills or quest givers for a realistic economy. I believe that gold sink will be gear maintenance as it is the easiest thing to control. Has anyone heard or seen any evidence of this? I imagine it will be purchase only components for the repair skills, but I guess it could be apartment rentals or a sales tax. Either way, gear breaking/repair seems the most likely to me, thoughts?

Our members are good at sharing what knowledge they have. I hope you enjoy the Ashes hpye train while getting to know us.
Hopefully that will fix the image signature issue, search function, and the slew of other issues that have taken a backburner to actual game development. (not complaining about that, would rather have the game 6 months earlier than a place for people to wishlist and snipe.)
As for gold sink, low durability should be quite costly to repair, but I am against any sort of gear breaking (as in *poof*, gone for good).
There are three kind of item sinks: You can gain craftable items from deconstructing completed items; You can have decay... and if you want to over-enchant that item there will be a potential to destroy it as well. It's important for an economy to experience those types of emphasis on what can be crafted as well as seeing those items that are crafted be destroyed as well."
