Every time I see a post say " man I sure hate those fetch quests" I just laugh, because they just don't realize that those fetch quest are what separate the pro's and the wannabes.  I love all quest, and that's prob why I will be behind most ppl since I'm gonna be running around doing everything little thing.

Heh..... I voted for the wrong one, I meant to choose the top one

I like having more to do than not enough to do.  You can always skip the ones that don't interest you.

What I require from quests is that they are worth my time, meaning they reward me with something meaningful.

If quest asks me to go spend 15 minutes of my time and then rewards me with 200 exp, while in same time I could just spend 2 minutes killing mobs and get 500 exp, then quest is not worth my time. It is in fact detrimental to my progress, and I chose to skip it, unless of course I am forced to do it because it is a part of main story chain.

The exception is if quests are like in The Secret World and have an amazing story, with video clips and are just reward in themselves. But besides TSW I haven't seen MMOs having quests like that.

And no, "go collect 20 mushrooms" followed by few lines of quest text does not qualify as a quest that is "reward for itself".

I'm between frequent or very frequent. Always fun to do some side quests and if you don't want, then you can just ignore it

Maybe do side quests that helps you get a bigger picture of the world, like a puzzle or something. Side quests that are special and have a procent chance on coming when you are in the area. Could be fun XD

If the have a reason to be called quest then sure I love them.

Most of my fond memories are built on side quests. Bone chips in Kaladim, Lego bracers, bat wings. You should get lost in the world. You should find your way around in the world. MMO's tend to be quite linear lately, the race from a to b. Goals will be a thing, sure, but there should be endless paths to take you there.

    you are doing it wrong.
I dont want quests for the reward. i want quests as part of my exploration.
if i get spammed with quests that have no meaning to them, why do they even exist!?

I like having a goal i can look forward to. It guarantees me that I get rewarded for exploring off the path. A pretty view is not enough for me to leave the path but if i know it brings my character forward whatever I do I am down.

Doing it differently than you prefer? Sure. Doing it wrong? That's not really a fair statement. It assumes that the only one who knows how to play the game correctly is you.

Considering the copious amounts of hours spent in Skyrim, and not having done the main quest at all yet. I believe my answer is justified.

How are we gonna get these legendaries without legendary side quests  ;)

Based on how you critize my love for how everquest handled sidequest.
i can only assume that everquest probably never existed in your universe.

There should be some, but it needs to have a healthy balance. Personally, I don't really like side quest chains that have little to no benefit at all, by that I mean not a title, no special item, nothing. Just done with the quest chain and that's it, well done, you can continue doing this in every other place in the world now.
So there should be side quests, but they shouldn't be long unless there's actually something to gain from it other than a pat on the back. But many little quests that you can keep track of easily are okay.

Dunno with the task system we will get, isnt it basically an unlimited amount of mindless side quests?  ;)

Huh? I specifically mentioned side quests in Everquest and how I enjoyed them. Even more specific, ones that weren't necessarily for the reward (save for the xp at early levels and faction.) They either brought you off the beaten path (which there really wasn't one of) or offered a bonus for something you were already doing by allowing a turn in of mundane items. I'm not quite sure what you are getting at.

Side quests are what they are.  It sounds like the side quests will scale/change with the node level you are in.  If I'm at a loose end and one is available I'll do it if I'm escorting my wares from point A to point B not a chance.   I'm all for having side quests always being available and I can decide to do them or not.

As long as the side quests have interesting stories I wouldn't mind having a lot of them.

I love having things to do that aren't necessary for a "main quest."
I also try to keep my quest logs clear, so I will take only a couple quest at a time or occasionally go days on end without any questing.

I am glad that the craft system will allow progression to keep pace with or without questing.

In Ashes I hope a lot of side quest open up more lore stories and node options. I am okay with not being rewarded personally if it unlocks something for the node. Also, being given a part of the lore that might otherwise be uncommon would be a great reward imo.

    How often depends.
If side quests are fun or have a good reason to be then I am for them frequently.
If they are boring,  plain and serve no purpose but a time sink then I am against them,

I'm pretty sure even side quests will give experience to the node.

"To earn 1x tiny cobble stone that cost 1 copper piece from the Magneficent Amazing Awesome Great Marvelous Shiny Mega Ultra Super Z Reward Chest, you to need slay 12 big head wolves and 24 shiny purple moths"

    No.

I do want a lot of side quests in the game, but I do not want pointless side quests. They should contribute to the node that I'm in, and should never stagnate. Make the side quests interesting and well written, and I'm in. Just don't clog up my quest list so far that it goes off screen and I have to manhandle it so I can see the lowest quests on the list.

Side quests are what makes a game worthwhile as far as I am concerned. The more the merrier. With that said, the reward needs to be worth it. Whether it is a cool looking cosmetic or a funny story.
