Hello community and dev team

I'm a 40yo gamer from Portland, OR. I started with UO and EQ and have played so many mmo's since then. I am always looking for new games that address long term problems many developers overlook too often. I can't wait to sink my testing teeth into Ashes and look forward to grouping up with like minded gamers!

  • Hello @Blind_Mouse o/ and welcome to the community
  • Welcome @Blind_Mouse, EQ player here as well. :)

What were your favorite Classes? Mine were Monk and Bard. Back when you had to manually twist the songs. Miss those days.

  • Welcome! I see from you signature you're a bit tired of what's gone on as of late xD Please don't offend me, I identify as a 4yr old vegan Apache helicopter
  • @Dorje Tarew Marr - druid, bard, shadowknight, among others. I miss it so much
  • Welcome mate and lets get startet soon :p

  • @Blind_Mouse did you get a chance to play the bard when you had to manually weave the songs? I was so bummed when they automated it. But yeah in all the years I have the fondest memories of EQ1. EQ2 looked better but just not have the complexities in game play. Vanguard tried to bring some of those game mechanics back with good looks but failed as a game was released too soon and at a time people just did not have computers strong enough to run it.

I am really hoping that Ashes of Creation has great game mechanics along with the appearance.  It sounds interesting can't wait :)
  • Welcome to the fun!
  • @Dorje Oh you are talking about /melody. No, I had to manually keep spells going. Well, "had to" isn't the right way to say it. There is no other way to play. oddly enough i just started a new eq account just to go down memory lane again.Starting with the mighty high elf wizzy.
  • @Blind_Mouse Yeah the Bard was a lot more fun when you had to keep the songs going manually they automated it after some time, which just didn't have as much appeal as it originally did. The manual attention requirement of the bard made it more difficult than the other classes but it also gave certain advantages with practice.

I'm kinda excited about the slide bar for this reason, It allows people to add a bit of manual skill into the game that allows a bit of separation.  Also as a visual slider bar it makes it almost impossible to create a timed macro for it through a game pad, as the visual ques are qued in different random positions withing the slider. Something I really hope they do not remove from the game.

If you liked the Bard original play style I think you will probably like the sliders impact on strength of ability in this game.
