  • Nice!!  <3
  • I am in love with the Vek environments  <3
  • Gambling was mentioned at the end of the post. Does that mean there might be player owned casinos? I wouldnt be opposed to a gambling system at all.
  • Great blog! Amazing art! Absolutely love the ideas for the tavern. Makes me excited AOC all over again.
  • "all points of interest that will be passed by word of mouth in Taverns"

I know fantastic isn't it, most here love the idea yet come launch the tears will flow when people who have not been following development have no one to take them by the hand and lead them along.
  • I love the fact that this game is going to draw all the people who have been looking for that one type of game but we just can't find it.

Yes, this will probably turn into a niche market, but that's ok.  I'd rather have a player base of 20,000 people who really want to be in the game who love it, then a huge player base that just wants to be given everything.

I agree, but anyone who's played opening month for any new MMO this pattern will happen: A flood of players, not up-to-date on AOC, will get on the hype train. Some will like it for what it is, but A LOT will complain because it is different. This can suck for the people who have been following this since day one of public development announcement.

It's up to this community to guide the "flood" and stay strong through the negativity. If there is anything I've seen these past few months with this community is that we are capable of accomplishing this.

Admist all the " future-potential negativity " ... i think i can confidently say that all of the Forum-Members have witnessed & experience how the MMO-Industry have degraded itself ... and I'm proud to know that Intrepid Studios' Devs already have established the Mindset of making a Game and not making a Cash Shop ahead of time BEFORE they ever announced Ashes to the Public.

That and the Most Intrepid Devs have over 40+ Years of Experience in the MMO industry ... which is almost a Dream-Come-True ; most Problems that any inexperienced Devs face - "they" ( Intrepid ) ...  already seen & over-come those Obstacles .

( Hence: they can apply what they learned into making Ashes of Creation - to avoid those Problems.  #Wisdom )
    • In short, most Upcoming MMOs always have more Cons than Pros, but Ashes of Creation have the most Pros, compared to Cons, than any other Upcoming MMO in development - which is (arguably) the hardest part of MMOs. But Ashes of Creation have so many Pros ... that it kinda weights-out the Cons.
( NOTE: By " Cons & Pros " .. i mean the worst that could happen Vs. The best as to what could happen including the likelihood of what might happen based on ... past-MMOs )

In the end, its 50/50. Because getting the MMO Started is still arguably the Hardest Part in MMOs development .. they're still other variables to consider
    • such as consistent content updates - both Minor & Major.
All-in-All, i still hope that Ashes of Creation will succeed though. And i think, overall, Ashes of Creation & Intrepid Studios is in a Comfortable spot atm
  • I wonder what kind of tavern it will be? Will it be dank and dark and smell of old socks? Will it serve meals that even a rat won t go near and heavily watered down beer?

    Maybe it will be more upscale with a bard that sings on key, more than one item on the menu and scantily clad men { being a female I d be VERY interested in a bar with scantily clad men in it !}

  • Those Vek environments look fantastic indeed! In truth, the more I see of the Verra the more I cannot wait to jump right into this world. :)

    Honestly, fighting isn't everything.

Conflict is everything. Fighting is simply the physical manifestation of conflict.
  • It sounds like a player instead of just buying what he needs for crafting from the auction house. he could post it as a quest and pay someone directly upon completion. That sounds cool.

It does sound like a good idea you offer a price for the goods you require and if it is fair someone will fill your request. Have to see how it works in game.
  • I like the idea of the tavern being the social hub.  In most games the closest you get is the crowd standing around in the auction house.  I can see it also where, as the node grows, there might be more than one tavern.  Maybe one for those just entering the area and another that is frequented by those more experienced adventurers.  Or maybe one frequented by dedicated crafters and another by the adventurers.  Each having their own place to feel at home in the world

The rooms that were mentioned to be for rent?  Are these going to be the same as the instanced player housing?  Or will that be in another type of structure like a boarding house?

This does remind me of those old pen and paper campaigns I used to live in.  Also some of the early PC RPGs.  There's just one thing I have to know...

Will there be Otik's spiced potatoes on the menu?!?  :)

Yes love the picture painted, so looking forward to seeing this come to fruition.

I actually wonder how many people on this forum ever played pen and paper rpg's.
DnD, Gamma World, Car Wars, Champions, Villains & Vigilantes,Toon, Dc Heroes, Top Secret,  MechWarrior, Call of Cthulhu, ShadowRun, are the ones I remember playing. Velvet Bag full of dice and a few boxes of figurines ( Lead and Pewter ). Hours of fun painting them. I had a blast playing them thanks for bringing up some fond memories.

Maybe we can have figurines for this game one day :)

Amazing blog and fantastic artwork TY. Can't wait for the Tavern Experience.

    Which have you played? @Varkun

  • I'm pretty sure I'm gonna spend all my time in this game killing politicians.
  • @sunfrog haha! agreed, will be a good stress relief from real life ones!
  • Seems really cool, cannot wait for a chance to get a key.
  • This just keeps getting better and beer! Bring me some ale!!!!!

  • Phenomenal start - Watching carefully from now on!

I am specifically worried about the "gambling" part.
