Asherons Call
Hey all. Small rant, just wanted to put all this out there, that there is a massive amount of people ever since Asherons Call shut down DYING for a PvP subscription game that is quality. I hope the Devs know what made AC so great, and why it lasted 17 years. Such as the allegiance system with pass up xp to your patron, the huge open world, the strong monthly content, and most importantly of all the dungeons that guilds fought for.
Some of my best memories about AC was logging on after school and getting frantic /tells from guildmates under me who were getting killed by rival players in popular leveling spots. I would normally then gather a friend or two, open a portal or run to the area, and fight for it.
NOT for myself, but fight for the low levels under me. And we would camp it while my people were inside, because they were passing up XP to me as they farmed, so it was WORTH IT for everyone. Everyone won. They were providing, and I was providing. I sat there one day with friends, chatting and killing, for 8 hours helping guildies all night. Killing those who were not in or allied with my guild, or making them run away, while my people farmed away in peace.
Massive wars sometimes broke out that took skill to win. 20 v 20 portal raids were so much fun. 10 level 67s vs 10 level 107s? No big deal. The 67s could kill the 107s if they had more pvp skill. THE COMBAT TOOK SKILL. Everything added up, it made friendships, it got people to talk. Games nowadays, you que up and raid a dungeon. You dont even talk. Its pathetic.
I could go on and on. The quests, the fights, everything. That game was the Alpha. Some of you likely know what I mean. I am extremely spoiled from that game, I get it. My standards are now too high. But so are many many many other people just like myself. We are Asherons refugee, looking for a home. I just hope this is it. I hope they know what it takes. For the love of God, we need a home. Devs, please do some AC research. You will like what you read, and the ideas that you take from it. Add those ideas with what you have already for Ashes of Creation. I like what I hear and see so far. Email me, whatever it takes. If you build it, we will come. I do promise.
Thanks for listening.

I didn't play on DT but for a little. I was on Morningthaw, based out of Hebian-to where my clan was. Lots of a good memories there just hanging out chatting or what not.
While I was waiting for my game to came I played on my brother's acct, and since there was no point in leveling I started buying cool looking armor at the store that adventurers would sell to after they came back from the nearby Mosswart fort.
(in AC, any loot that players sold to NPCs became available in that NPC's inventory and could be purchased by anyone else)
That's how I got my start in trading.
Man, I still remember my first 'big' sale.
I bought some green Koujia pauldrons, traded them for a Sho Master Life Robe, and then the robe for four motes (motes were for crafting Atlan weapons, the only bound weapon at that time if I remember right). I was in the big times then!
And yes, AC really does set the bar high.
After AC me and my brother played DAoC. When we leveled we got this little scroll:
Strength increased by 1
Stamina increased by 1
Willpower increased by 1
...
We both were shocked. We couldn't spend our XP, it was auto?! That and being shoehorned into a 'class'.. we both flipped a lid and didn't play long.
Oh man, I remember running from building to building in Holtburg dodging portal storms. And the little apple orchard outside of Holtburg, there was a trader there and that's where I would do my fletching because I liked the orchard.
A pox on you Cambell, for bringing all these misty eyed memories back!
But yes AC was epic, and to find a good MMO to take its place is nearly impossible.
Never knew about the secret taper system, I just used that macro you would dl that would buff you and buy everything you need when you would hit that mage tower up by the MAYO town. Of course I would run some people down prior to making my purchase, if I win the dues death items paid for my tapers. haha
