Because we will have naval caravans too, and all caravans will have PvP zones around them.
So you know what that means? Yep Pirate raids will be happening on the high seas.

who passed away last year, miss that old cat.
I bet one or two castles will be close to the sea, if not right next to the sea, and one if not two of the 3 nodes will be in the sea area. Ship battles to take down the sea mounted nodes, I can see some major battles fighting those attacks off.
I am requesting Castles off the coast line, if this wasn't part of the plan, too the DEV team . Please, oh Please let there be guild castles off the coast line, with one or two nodes on an island that needs to be protected by a naval force. Some of us want to be a guild that is mainly sea going, be it good or bad. Just a couple here and there, is that too much to ask? lol
Ok I know they said 5 castles, but two can be on the coast right? maybe bump the number up to 7 or 9 hehe.

It's all about the guilds, I am sure some will be trading companies, others will be royal navy types, and others of course will play the roll of pirates.

Also, like with caravans, sign up to guard and then when the bandits/pirates attack show true colors and rampage the ship! Pirate 007!
For those that don't know the difference, a privateer is a civilian ship, militarized to engage in piracy on behalf of a government.
A true pirate follows no flag but his own, and picks his targets on his own desires rather than what side they fight on.
Let's not forget the Navy, who are warships funded by a government.

Makes me think of Squad
Could maybe only be bestowed by the node leader and grant some sort of bonus such as "Admiral" gives any ship you are at the helm of 5% more HP or "Master of Horse" gives you a bonus to mount breeding.
Node leader changes, these titles are dropped and leader needs to pick new members of his small council or cabinet.
