Monk Lovers: What combination of classes would make your ultimate Monk?

I love playing Monks and while I wish we had a dedicated Monk class we have enough flexibility to make a Monk.

What would be your favorite combinations to make your Ultimate Monk.

I am giving some thought to:
Rogue>Cleric ~ Acrobatic Warrior with auxiliary heals.
Fighter>Rogue ~ Devastating Martial artist with acrobatic abilities.
Fighter>Cleric ~ Uses Chi to do extreme physical damage or at times heal.

Atm I am leaning more towards Rogue>Cleric which would cover more diverse aspects of what a monk is having only 2 class choices. Person capable of fighting acrobatic moves and auxiliary heals.

For those that want more focused on Chi ( term substitute for magic ) one could go Mage>Rogue or Mage>Cleric. The possibilities are endless.

I love the fact that we have so much flexability in what our characters are, utilizing the primary and secondary class archetypes. That increases the degrees of separation between players and allow us to become very unique.

I think it would be cool if we could Label our combined Class.
Example:
Class: Monk
Primary: Rogue
Secondary: Cleric

  • Rogue / mage. You need that mage so you go around floating over city walls.
  • Fighter / Cleric
  • Tank/Summoner . . . then name it Monk V2

  • Fighter/cleric seems to be the most obvious combination.
  • Rogues always play dirty so it does not sound very monk-ish

If your referring to the Rogue/Cleric combo. It's cause we can go 2 classes only or I would go Fighter / Rogue / Cleric.

Rogue more for acrobatic abilities and the ability to do a lot of damage.

Not my play style, but there are Shaolin Monks gone bad as well.

They are human after all until they reach enlightenment, a few are bound to stray.
  • i love monks.
    cleric / rogue combo?
  • Monk design should have some mix. asian/western cultures.
For me - MONKS -protectors of faith: monk is faithfull person and extremely disciplined self-deffence specialist/fighter aspiring to excellence, which has some "inner" force/energy.
They has some unusual deffence style - with no shield or armor (just robe or tunic)-basically relies on sharp skills to evade and parry attacks + some reinforced spells like "iron skin"/"pure mind/body" etc.
Since they are not assasins -they prefers to controle their enemies/weaken them/render harmless(but they are still very dangerous of course)
Monk also is priest type character and should have arsenal of support spells/blessings.
    It's very adaptive class(couldbe quite offencive/deffencive etc.).
    Basic architype -cleric
second - suppose it's fighter or tank (NOT rogue)

Rogue is on the list for me purely for their acrobatic abilities like climbing walls, it is not on my list of possibles to be used as a thief but merely to utilize the utilities.

Monks can be specialized primarily in fighting or healing or somewhat equally in both, real life.

Monk are also known for their acrobatic feats; climbing, jumping, falling, etc.. , most of these type of utilities in the game fall to the Rogue Class.

So while Rogue is not the ideal class to represent monks in ideology, in aspect to the game, the utilities that come with it help bring out some of the more known abilities of a monk.

I am not 100% sure which combo I will use just yet, I will have to see what the utilities for each class is when i get into the game.

    In your example you list
    Basic: Cleric
    Second: Warrior or Tank
If you want to be primarily a healer that would be good for you :)

For me I would want Healing as secondary. Primary would probably be Fighter or Rogue.  Since fighters to not have acrobatic utilities as far as I know, Rogue for now sounds the most likely tho that could change :)

  • All has own preferences and logic.
    Rogue is not frontline specialist
    Monk is frontline specialist
    Monk still "church" character
It also depend -how unique would be architype combinations/skills morphs/new unique passives etc.
  • I'd just like to be able to use gauntlets.
  • @Dorje
    Yup, exactly.
