Gear challenges

I think it would be a neat idea to add gear challenges to this game, kinda like shadow of war. As an example lets say you get all the gear pieces for an item set, but the last most powerful bonus is locked until you earn a certain achievement while wearing the gear set.   So you have to go do a certain dungeon in order to unlock the last bonus. This will incentives players to go out to places they were already and try builds that use that set.

  • I think the premise of the idea is cool, but I don't think that the game should tell you specifically where you need to go to unlock the last perk. It should give a hint or a riddle or some sort as to what you need to do and where you need to go.

Since the world will be constantly changing there should be tons of incentives outside of gear to go back to places you have been before. The place may bot be thr same as when you last visited!

That would be cool with a hints and what not to make it a puzzle. I would say to tie it to achievements so once the gear breaks you can just go back and get it without doing the side mission.
  • I think it has potential for sure with the hints could be a good source of lore within the world. There could be all manner of lore revealed just to add flavour to the items and give them a sense of history and a place within the world of Verra. The challenge to unlock its full potential could be many different things such as killing a dungeon boss as you say, or it could be visiting a place of power that is hard to get at.

    Nice idea.
  • Hmm, I like the idea but rather than unlocking a gear bonus through it, it would be nice if we had to do the challenge to get the final material required for crafting/upgrading that set.  :D

I like this as an idea too, that way you are involving others from within the community. Could well be that they have to be a master smith before they should be able to preform the crafting process. This could apply to jewellery crafters, enchanters etc depending on the items within the overall set.

    Another good idea.

My toughts excatly I hope ascending to master crafter level will be a hard task unlike most mmo's where it's a side job, this will allow players to engage in other activities and these master crafters would be able to earn quite a lot to create this end game gear.
