I'm not sure if my husband's thinking on this is correct.  He says an mmo that uses the mouse for fighting actions like throwing spells is considered an action mmo. I have trouble using that key configuration.  I'm so used to the point and click spells on the hotbar.  So what's this game gonna be?

    A combo of tab targeting and action it appears. 

    To me (and I could be wrong) an action MMO is more than just "throwing spells with your mouse". It's blocking, dodging or specifically aiming manually instead of just hitting a button and triggering an animation. 

    Ashes looks to combine these two a bit with their apparently controversial skill bar.

    As Karthos said. It will be a combination of action and tab targetting. In more detail, they said that certain abilities would be tab target, and certain would be "action". So if you have difficulty with one or the other, you will be able to focus on the style of play that best fits you and even mix-and-match.
