Node System and balance

I was watching and reading about the node system and it seems very unique. A question about it which I haven't found out about is whether servers will reset or not, which in turn resets nodes to level 0.
When released, all the nodes (I assume) would be level 0, so upgrading specific nodes would be easy, but after a long time it would be much more prominent which nodes are dominant. Due to this, could players be frustrated that they couldn't have a specific node upgraded? Could Interpid Studios add in world events such as Meteor strikes, Earthquakes, etc. which could harm the economy and possibly degrade nodes?  This way other players may have a chance of getting the nodes they want upgraded.

  • Nodes can be deleveled if players attack it successfully.

    There is also already a planned system where certain threat events are triggered if a node reaches a certain stage where there is a chance of the node deleveling or other negative effect. The players do have a chance of defeating the threats.
  • At this point there are no plans to allow nodes to de-level through in game events, buildings can be damaged, destroyed and other hardships can befall the node but no de-level. The only way at this point to de-level a node is by direct action of players from an opposing node they declare war the defending node gets a number of days to prepare depending on its size then the siege commences. The attackers have a set amount of time to breach the defences and capture set points in the city/town, if they succeed the node de-levels if they are repulsed the node stays as it is.

    There may be some changes to this as the game evolves the devs may decide that things need a shake up or perhaps the corruption that once caused the original exodus may return.
  • Let's also be clear about testing versus live. During the next couple of years of testing there will be resets and wipes. Once testing is over, the current test server will be wiped, and will become their "test server". All region based live servers will start fresh at that time. 48 hour headstart servers will have their node system turned off, to stop any complaints of p2win.

    It has been stated that nodes can't lose levels to PvE events. Those node events can only hinder nodes by destroying buildings/functionality.

    Loss of levels is reserved for PvP sieges.
