Alpha / beta phases

Do we know how long each alpha / beta phase is? Or how many invites will be sent for each phase?

Asking for a friend 😉 (who didn’t get an invite) 😁
haha thanks.

Alpha 0 is 3 days. (starts 15th December)
Alpha 1 no timeframe on how long it will go for (mentioned to be around q4 2018)
Alpha 2 will be persistent and last to launch. (no eta)

Beta 1 no information at this time
Beta 2 no information at this time

as for how many people, Alpha 0 is said to have around 1200 people, as for the rest it depends on how many people purchased access from the Kickstarter/Summer store and pax packages

@Shunex Correction: The first Alpha 0 is 3 days, starting on 15th of December. Further Alpha 0 testing will be announced throughout 2018, I guess

Correct, the first alpha 0 is only 3 day's with possible further alpha 0 test's in the future but we really don't have any more information than that.
  • I am so confused, A0 is only 3 days? But every weekend 3 days or we may only see a 3 day A0 weekend and nothing until next year?

the event that start's on the 15th is 3 day's, however, it's possible for future alpha 0 event's in the future we just don't have any information on when or how long those test's will be
  • I think your confusion lies in that you think that Alpha 0 is a product for players to experience the game like a free trial, and not what it is, a way for them to test systems in the wild. The purpose of the Alpha is not to make things easy or convenient for you, or give you something that you are "playing". If you are here to test, then test when they need you to. If you can't meet the time constraints, or feel somehow your free key entitles you to actual gameplay with progression and choice, then you probably are not going to enjoy the entire experience going forward.
  • All I got to say is steven knows how to dangle the bait in our face and keep it far enough out of reach that we want it but not so far that we decide to quit striving for it

It's probably better to think of Alpha 0 just as an internal test group for core gameplay. As you say they will do 3 days testing starting the 15th, but after be called upon when a new mechanic or feature requires testing. I would expect fairly frequent (every month or two), but short, testing phases for them. That's my, albeit speculative, take on alpha 0.
  • I am sure bugs WILL be found as no matter how careful you are things happen. (Ie that wonderful caravan footage in which its still moving when it s on its side) I 'm sure that one has been fixed ! :)

    everyone wants the carrot.

That's also quite normal, i don't think that there is a single videogame with 0 bugs. But without a large group of testers that are not playing together (more variety on things they re gonna do) there will be more of them
  • Right on thank you all.
