First Kills (Dungeons, Raids, World Bosses)

Let first kills for bosses be announced to the whole server + announce the guild and name of the participants who defeated it. Would help boosting players and guilds rep. Also give bonuses or rewards for people to compete for first kills.

Comments

  • No need for bonuses or rewards. This type of compensation for "World First" alienates all players that don't start playing when the game is young. This also rewards players for rushing content. If they were able to claim a "World First" why do they need bonuses?

No need to announce to the whole server either. There will be leader boards, that has already been determined. If anyone truly cares they can make the effort to check. Why add a immersion breaking pointless "look how awesome someone is" popup or chat message?

I would be down with messages being put on the towns message board for a week, or maybe access to the leadership board from the message boards.

...not everyone cares or "needs" to know about said player or guild.
  • Announcing things like that to the server might be annoying. If it was on a sign post somewhere where I could go look if I care that might be cool.... but the thought of my screen being flooded with a pile of names and guilds for the first week or so would be annoying. I think guild rep will come from regular successful raids (like larger scale ones, not a small dungeon) and probably most rep will come from the PvP.
  • I have stopped playing games before that constantly send out server messages... I really don't care what someone I have never met or won't meet just did on the opposite side of the server.

I personally don't want everyone to know if I killed a new thing or completed a dungeon that no one else has... don't want a swarm of people going at it... secrets can be nice to have.

No need to give boosts as something worth claiming a world 1st over probably has something useful  (material/gear/ect) that could be a boost in itself.

I would rather IS take their time and make content enjoyable and not spend time making mechanics/systems that encourages rushing content
  • Id like this first part with the announcement but I don't think the bonuses are necessary.
  • Pooka thinks that instead of doing that, why not have the NPCs talk about these people in idle chat?  Let them do that for a couple days say "Oh did you hear that so and so guild killed the Emporer Lich over at so and so castle yesterday?"

Pooka thinks that would be neat.
  • I have to agree that these types of messages are annoying and immersion breaking.
Keep it on the leaderboard or town bulletin boards.

A title and the rewards from the kill should be enough. No other compensation is needed.
  • This seems like a great starting idea but could have its drawbacks, Maybe something close to it though I might do a discussion on it myself how it could be implemented so that it encourages gameplay rather than discouraging people that they could never be the first! :D
  • I think going for the vanilla WoW approach would be better. Instead of announcing world first as a server message you had the community keep track of it. And raids had some cool unique items that showcased if a player or a guild was good at raiding. You saw people in tier 2 pieces etc and you knew they were good. Then later a few got aq40 pieces and naxx40 pieces. By going with this approach each server saw guilds and players organically grow their reputation just by seeing them around in the unique gear. Same with the PvPers with their titles and unique PvP looking gear. Same could be achieved in Ashes. Though due to the importance of crafting in Ashes maybe raids could drop cosmetics or unique patterns/resources instead. That way you had to go to certain guilds/players to get said gear. Though I do like the cosmetics approach more.
  • I would be down with dropping rare cosmetics and potentially having reputations based on chatter about said cosmetic.
  • Anyone ever play bdo? AoC should definitely stay FAR away from having any sort of popup message. Worst thing i ever ran into in a MMO. Not only that. But yes its cool to see your guild name popup. get some congrats from allied guilds. Even I'd feel good from that. But IDC about someones guild accomplishments just like noone would care about mine.
  • That sounds fair, if you could turn on/off pop-ups about your guild, group of players, and/or node you have citizenship with I would be down. That's if there was an on/off option. I understand some people want to be in the know and can respect that.
  • I created a post on this if you wanna check it out :D It talks about how you make something like this immersive so that it would add to the game not take away :D
  • There will be a in game leader bored I do believe that alone will boost players name and guild rep . When you see players or guilds in top  10 everyone want there name 1st .2nd 3th in game . Also players will have there own store so if you selling goods or  rare items it could build up your rep or may be crafting if sonone your guild who is  top crafter other players in your node may want to find that person to help craft a itam and maybe get a rep that way  . I got a feeling longer people play in this game people will start to get to know there players/ town in there node as we will have to all work together to defend on siege and other stuff that may happen where we need to work together as a community.  Also we are here now talking building up little rep 😉☺
  • Bards should sing songs about the first player to reach max level.

Oh look at this poor soul that has no life,
doesn't have friends, doesn't have wife.
Oh look at this poor soul and story that he shares,
he reached max level and no one cares.

    Tntntn tntntnt.

It should be sang by bards around Vera for months.
  • Gotta agree with the posts about relying on leadership boards, guild-specific notification toggling, and in-game NPCs/objects for that kind of thing.

For the in-game sign posts etc., "world first" might not fit, but in the sense that I assume events from nodes leveling to the 4~6 range won't be "repeated" often (depending on how often major nodes are destroyed in warfare), perhaps NPC bards and the like could sing about major Event X (e.g. the epic take down of a dragon that swept in from the mountains nearby a metropolis) indefinitely or for a period of time (depending on how significant the event was).
  • I don't mind server announcements for massive achievements if it can be toggled off. I would prefer actual in-game leaderboards to it, but if they are major content being achieved, I think it's ok. On that note, please, please do not put any "xCxGodsLayeRxCx has upgraded Basic Sword to +18!" even in chat unless it's to nearby chat only.
  • I would say not at all, please no participation trophies!
  • Leaderboard sounds cool. Perhaps some kind of private log about the own past achievements would be nice to have too. ;)
  • Leaderboards I agree with but having a system of 'first' kills would make the players extremly competative, some wouldn't enjoy the game fully because of this.
