Fighter + Fighter = Duel wield?

I am really hoping the Fighter spec gets Duel Wield if they use Fighter as the 2nd spec in AoC. Would help to define the different classes in this game, if each has it's own special skill set out side of what the other skill sets. So if you picked the Fighter + Tank, you wouldn't see the Duel Wield, or if you picked Fighter + Bard.

What I fear is a clone mapping of some of the skills, and I hope we don't see it here.

  • Are there any other combinations that you think could be dual wielders?
I know a lot of rogue types like to.
  • Stated multiple times and seen in the livestreams, any archetype can use any weapon or dual-wield if wanted. They have said that certain classes will be better with certain weapons, but if you want a dual-wielding mage/ranger, go for it. You want a tank/fighter that bashes people with a spellbook, go for it, they just won't get as much block from the book, or have some of the shield skills available.

In addition to this ^ players won't be able to duel-wield shields ( https://youtu.be/L9jrjsZ1-F0?t=40m06s )

The secondary archetypes will offer skills a flavour of an archetype theme. For example picking fighter as a secondary archetype may give you a more offensive playstyle.

There will be a lot of options for customising your build. I do think augment options will offer enough variety for skill personalisation. I look forward to the day when everyone is sharing their builds ^^

My thinking was along the lines of granting special Fighter only abilities with the duel wield, if you picked the fighter + fighter. Example would be you can be more skilled with long swords vs anyone else trying to use the same combo. Plus you would be granted the skill sets to go with it.

Sure a rouge could use it too, but maybe their version would be limited to short sword vs the long for fighter. Even with a Tank class, the duel wield could be heavy mace weapons.

If this is an option for all, I am just saying make it something different for each class, and not just map over the same skill set to each class.

Yes, I get that we will have lots of options, just mainly thinking some options might be best left for some classes. I don't see the rouge using long sword with great skill vs a fighter type.

  • A lot of the classes will be able to dual wield, putting huge restrictions just because it's the 'class' you are playing is pretty silly in my opinion.
  • R.I.P. This post reminded me of this scene when he gets his sword into two or something but it looked so badass but as well reminds me of the sadness when he died. Even though I play horde I think he was the best king.
