Good news though, the renkai orks have a asian feel to them tooo soo we could potentially have samurai armor and weapon themes in game.

If the classes are as customizable as Intrepid are claiming they'll be I think that you will be able to make the Fighter class into something like a Samurai. Make a Ren'Kai orc, find yourself a Katana like sword, and equip yourself with abilities and secondary class that would most fit a Samurai. It will be amazing to see the different kinds of characters even within the 64 classes already!
  • With the freedom that classes offer you, as long as there is a katana weapon and samurai style armor you should be able to use any of the fighter/tank classes to imitate/become a samurai.
  • Samurai would be cool!!!  B)

Zastro makes a good point, the class combo may not be named Samurai, but with right combination of armor and weapons you could essentially be one.
  • Fighter/rogue.. Samurai definitely have ninja skills.

Pick a fighter/rogue  buy 2 shorts swords or 1 long sword  make your character with long hair and muscle then make him toploss. Done ;)
  • I don't think we are thinking about the same kind of Samurai, historical vs. anime maybe? Both could be possible, but unless unarmored is a skill...
  • Ideas for samurai 1st tank. 2ndMages. 3th fighter 4th range from the pictures
  • All they have to do is add some samurai armour sets and there you go you have your samurai, plus if there was a bit a lore behind it that wold be cool
  • We do know that Steven had 4 other Archetypes on the drawing board before they trimmed the list down to 8 for the game.

Is it possible that years and YEARS down the road we might see a new class.   Of course, anything is possible.

But realize what adding just one archetype would entail.

First you add a Archetype.  Now you need to develop a set of unique skills for it.
Next you have to create 9 "tweaks, modifiers, etc) for each of the subclasses
Then you have to go back to the original 8 Archetypes and figure out what tweaks, modifiers, etc the new subclass would give to those original 8.

So you are adding one class, and doing 17 sets of tweaks, and balances.

  • yes please

  • The more, the deadlier...!!
    (something like that)

Would look great  as a dungeon boss

Would be cool if they had a world/node  events where a undead king reborns and  keep bringing up lots of skeletons around the node/world and people have to work together to fight them while a guild/ handful of people go up to the mountains to kill the skeleton king.

  • Samari/monk could be cool

So, in short, it would be an event where a node(s)/world would team up to defeat Nagash?  If I were on that world, I would just character transfer.  Don't like them odds...  :p

I hope @Nagash has some monster coins and can get undead during his rotation. For me, as of now, that would be the most meta thing that could happen on my server.
  • noooo we are not in Japan lol, my immersion is breaking !
  • Lol, I have lived in Japan for more than 20 years now, you will never win an argument with weeaboos about cultural appropriation. Put dreadlocks on a troll and give them Jamaican patois and they will line up all day to play.
  • Seems more like a class that belongs in an eastern MMO; this game has far more of a
"high fantasy" feel and probably won't feature a class not reminiscent of classic MMOs and Tolkein's genius (although I'm hoping for obsure classes not seen in other MMORPGs).
  • We don't even know enough about the races to say that none of them will have culture similar to Asia/Japan, honestly this entire talk already veered off topic, going from toughts on a Samurai class to some sort of discussion about undead/world events.

The Ren'Kai orcs actually are based on Japanese themes according to Steven
