Will all characters be locked to the same node?

I was watching the live stream from earlier today and something that Steven said stood out to me. He mentioned that housing would be account locked and that all characters would have access to the same housing location. Because of that it made wonder if all characters on the account will be bound to the same node/city?

  • That is a dam good question, but I hope there not. They are different characters the only connection is that they belong to the same account.
  • No. Characters will not be locked to the same node. Though it would make it more convenient. You have one freehold that is account locked. Character A places it, thus gaining citizenship to that node. Character B starts on the other side of the world from a different starting area and decides to hang out with a new crew while another node is forming. At stage 3, he buys a hut in that node. Character A has been having problems back at the freehold from a guild that keeps harrassing his town. They want some inside information so they can ambush that guild and disrupt their operations. Character C is created and makes its way to the home node of the offending guild. They are at level 5 and have build instanced apartments. To maintain his cover, Character C buys one and become a citizen of Node C. He spams looking for guild, and only takes the offer from the one he has been sent there to spy on.

Now, A will be able to add B and C to the permissions for the freehold. Or they will automatically be given permission by being the main account linked to the freehold. A would still be a citizen of first node. B and C would not, thus not gain the benefits of citizenship (exp boosts and the like from festivals) while in A's area.TBD.

Characters D, E, F are not SooL. There has been discussion that the only thing they have said is account locked is the freehold at 1. You could end up owning an instanced apt per character, not account. You could end up with multiple houses in city if you are lucky enough to time it right to be in on the system they come up for those sales. Until they clarify, nothing is set beyond knowing the freehold is singular.
