Why so Gated? $75 and 6 months later?

Honestly to start maybe I was in a mood to begin with when I checked on here but I spent $75 to play this game (Beta?) I've got no notifications from the Devs like hey! you spent almost a $100 on a untested game, when can you play? Nobody Knows! No inkling of how many tickets, no updates on Timelines, No hope.

From someone who supported the game, recruited friends to check it out I feel like I could have just waited, saved my money and checked it out a launch.

Well currently Alpha 0 is avalible to winners of the weekly drawings, the 75$ package offers access to Beta 2 which is the last known testing phase before the official launch so probably around Q2, Q3 of 2019.

  • The knowledge is out there for those that want it. Do some digging in these forums, explore the wikis, or even try your hand at Google.

    Welcome to the community.

  • Then you can imagine the pain that those of us that have been around much longer feel. All good things to those who wait. The problem with the mentality of "I paid...I paid....let me play NOW!" is that it was not promoted as a play the game testing period. The different package levels allow you to help ease the pressure of a smaller, indie, startup studio defray costs. Yes, the game at its core is fully funded before any of this crowdfunding or pre-order packaging sales commenced, but it is just good business to get the punters to accept a level of risk and contribute rather than risking all your own money. You could have indeed waited, saved your money (you would still be paying the sub fee) and checked it out at launch. The next year is going to be a very rocky, open development process, and you are going to see it warts and all once the NDA on Alpha 0 is lifted and people begin to stream Alpha 1 later this year. If you were expecting what has come to be known as "early access" on Steam where you buy the unfinished game, play it for a bit, bitch about how unfinished it is, and leave to play other stuff, you will be disappointed.

People really should learn the difference between targets and deadlines.
Targets are best effort....but subject to change.
    Deadlines are compulsory....ready or not.

No one wants to eat a half cooked meal. Would be bad for the cook and the customer ;)
Transparency on where we are is far more important to me..especially problems and walls. As its these things that set the project back because they require changes and changes take time.
  • You might of wanted to do some more research before you invested the $75.  The game is still in Alpha-0 and the next phase is targeted for later this year but no date promised.  The game is a ways off from being finished and even in Beta 1 or 2.  Some of us have invested a lot more money and still not in Alpha 0 but if you like the looks of the game and feel like investing more money you can get in to Alpha 1 but let me say it is a lot of money since you are already stating you should not have spent the $75.

Sorry you feel that way.  It's always good to look into those things before investing. IT's an MMORPG they take a long time to make.  There is always a risk also that a project could fail and never see light of day. I don;t think Pantheon will be one of those, I feel it will be completed but the actual time that will be no one would know the exact time frame not even the developers they can have a soft goal but things happen those soft goals could move up or get pushed back. This is not just for Pantheon but just about any game out there.
