*moving to new thread since its different topic*
  • Small guilds are important, why would you want to limit it to further promote zerg and only big guilds?
  • Prejudicial treatment should have a sound basis.
I like @Gothix ideas on this...he does have quite a few good ones now and then.

Maybe there could be a balancing method... like the larger the guild the higher the penalties in certain areas. This must be tested in the alphas in betas, because the exact number of members when the penalties should start is really really really important.

Basically this could encourage the creation of more guilds (instead of people bunching up in several large ones).

Anyway, my answer to the OP is "maybe" because it depends on a lot of things, including what I said above - balancing solo plays with guilds :) ...leaning heavily towards "No" but hoping for something more interesting and balanced.
  • First of all, imo, as others have said there should be no penalty or bonus based on the size of a guild.

Second, even if the game refers to guilds with a noun other than "guild", people will still call them guild. To me, it kind of makes the whole thing a bit pointless, and would just seem odd to new-comers to the game.

Third, it has been many years since I saw a (non-troll) guild using the world "guild" in it's name. If the game starts displaying other nouns for the same function - whether people use them or not - it 'could' have a negative effect in regards to people not wanting to use those particular words to name their guild.

All up, it really doesn't matter. It doesn't add anything to the game at all.

I'm not so much against the idea as I see no point to it.

There will be a cap around 500 I think.
